I have a distant cousin (that I've never met) who is spending some time in the city with this his wife. He is a chef, so his palette is just a bit more discerning than most folks. They have complained to my father that the meals they've had in the city were overpriced and not very good. No information about where they ate were provided, so I am not sure what they considered to be "not good."
Could please help me put together a list of a bunch of Manhattan restaurants that are too expensive for a good sit-down meal? Maybe $30 or less pp.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
Re: Need restaurant recs
tapas at the 10 bells is amazing. $1 oyster happy hour till 7. lower east side.
wd-50 is unbelieveable. a liiiiiittle more expensive, (main courses in the $30-35 range) but you can still have dinner and dessert for 2 for under $100.
best steaks in the city are, without a single solitary doubt, at old homestead, on 9th ave and 14th street.
i also really like fig & olive. there are 3 locations. www.figandolive.com
Emerald Nuts Midnight Run (4m) 1/1/12
Coogan's Salsa, Blues, and Shamrocks Run (5k) 3/4/12
Colon Cancer Challenge (15k) 4/1/12
Purple Stride NYC (5k) 4/21/12
Run to Combat Autism (5k) 4/29/12
RnR Philadelphia (Half Marathon) 9/16/12
DH and I put together a list of a few places that we like. Old Homestead was at the top of the list. I'm not bending over backwards or anything for these people because, like I said, I don't really know these people.
I had my cousin, a self-proclaimed foodie, come vist me recently and he took us to Hearth on 12th street between between 1st ave and ave A and it was delish. Plates are about 30 bucks but really a good meal. We had the pasta dish and roasted chicken and we were very impressed.
hope that helps!
