I called the vet's office to make Henry's annual checkup appointment and I asked if maybe there was some kind of sedative the vet could give us to give him before the appointment. He's so vicious at the vet's office that he hasn't had a real physical exam in three or four years; they just use the pole and cat catcher to hold him down long enough to give him a shot and send him home. The receptionist said they don't normally give out sedatives but she'd have the vet look at his file and call me back.
The verdict from the vet: she won't give him a sedative because they don't have anything strong enough. We have to bring Henry in an hour early and they'll put him under general anesthesia for his checkup. ![]()
I wonder how much this experience is going to cost me? ![]()
Re: My cat is so bad...
Thank god Dewey loves his crate (and thinks he's a dog) and wants to be in it all the time!!! good luck! THAT does not sound fun at all!
We had a lot of cats like that believe it or not. But, it definitely does up the price of the exam
Goodluck! We have to do this with my yorkie when he gets a blood draw since he's so tiny and he wigs out.
My parents' cat is like that...poor thing. He never liked being held or cuddled by us, so he would freak out when the vet would try to grab him. My mother stopped bringing him regularly for a while after they told her they would have to sedate him each time, which I kept yelling at her about. He's 16 now and still acts the same way!
So, at least you're not the only one...does that help?
You know, I actually don't have a problem clipping his nails at home! By the time I'm done with the fourth paw, he's ready to be done with it, but I can almost always get all four paws done before he gets truly pissed off. It's just at the vet that he gets all psycho!
