Nook Owners

Has anyone had success with downloading books from the library? I worked on it for 2 hours yesterday with no luck Sad

My nook is authorized with ADE and my ADE login and password are th same as my BN (this was suggested by someone when I googled). I see the book in "My documents" on my nook, but when I select the book I get the error "User not activated"

I have no idea what this means. I deleted and re-downloaded ADE 3 times and deleted the ADE files off my nook and reconected.

Re: Nook Owners

  • Yes - this plagued me for two days!

Unplug it from your computer - power all the way down.  Power back up - it should be there.

  • Sadly, I had my husband do it for me.  For some reason I lost my mind when I tried to do it. I know others on here have done it and hopefully they can explain it.  You are not alone.

  • I did it but it took me forever, I couldn't even tell you how to if I wanted, because I played with it and tried different things.

On that note though, I think we need to set up something where we can all lend books and be "friends" on there.  I have no idea how to though...

  • If you figure it out let me know.  I still haven't attempted library books yet.

  • I used this tutorial- it was super helpful, and I found it easy to follow!!! Hope it helps :)

  • This was really hard the first few times I tried to figure it out. The trick is to open ADE and see the connection to your nook. You should be able to drag and drop the library book within ADE.

I did that. I see it on my nook in my documents, but when I click on the book it tells me "User not activated."

must figure this out. I am spending a small forutne on books.

Rebecca - the lending group is a good idea, however, you are only allowed to lend a book once Sad If anyone knows how to lend to more than one person let me know!

You get to lend it to the person for three weeks - after that it's "back to you" and you can lend it out again.

I thought it was 2 weeks?  I've never done it, so I could be wrong.  But yeah, what she said, only 1 person can have the book at a time, but it is can given multiple times.

Tarah - I powered down and back up and I am still gettiing the "user not activated message"

I no longer have the 'lend me' option next to a book I have lent out to someone (and have gotten back). I assumed that I could only lend it out once.

  • Oh wow, you are right!  I just fround this on their site:

As long as the LendMe icon   is displayed under the NOOK Book?s title, it can be lent directly from the Barnes & Noble library, from NOOK, NOOK Color, and any NOOK application.

Once the invite is sent to another Barnes & Noble account holder, the borrower has 7 days to accept the invite. Once the invite is accepted, the borrower will have access to the NOOK Book for 14 days; the lender will not have access to the NOOK Book at this time. Once the 14 days have passed, the NOOK Book will be automatically returned to its original owner?s library.

Each NOOK Book that has the LendMe feature available can only be lent out ONCE. This means that when the NOOK Book owner lends a title and the invite is accepted by the borrower, the LendMe feature will no longer be available for that title.
