But not for me.
DH's line was eligible for an upgrade now, so I got to use that... then when my line is upgradeable in July, he can use that if he wants. He already has a Droid and probably won't need to.
I now have a fancy phone with a pink cover, AND all my contacts transferred over. Plus there is a rebate on the phone that will get us $50 back. Happy day.
Re: $500 phone...
Droid something. Pro? 2?
It's "global ready" or somesuch junk, so I told DH we have to go back to Italy now.

I'm with ya, Tig. I love my phone. If I could, I'd marry it. Kidding. I had one friend when I told her about my fertility tracking and all that say "gee, can you pee on the iPhone for the pregnancy test too?". Not yet, but I will tell you this - the iPhone got my due date right, and predicted a girl too. So how about that?! :-)
This is very impressive!!
Some were more $$.

Interesting. It took me about three months last year to convince myself that spending $150 on a phone was justified.
I'm such a cheap ass when it comes to technology. It drives my husband crazy because he loves getting the latest gadgets. On a regular basis we debate when to upgrade the various TVs in our house.
Me too! When I told DH today that I couldn't fathom spending more than $200, he actually said, "Good luck with that."
Since I've had this number (2003, I think?) I've always alwaysalwaysalways gotten the simplest (free or $20) "new every two" option. This is the very first time I've ever had a data plan.

I want an iPhone big time, but my sticking point is paying for the data plan. I can't get over paying for internet twice.
Yes, that really bothers me too.
I'm still holding out on the smart phone too.
I can see how they would be really handy. For other people. Unfortunately, my husband thinks he's one of these people.
Ditto this.
You can DEFINITELY get them cheaper than that. I just saw a commerical on TV for the iPhone 3GS (the older version) for $49 if you sign up for a two year agreement. The memory is the smaller one, but it'll do everything an iPhone does.
This is what I did just a few months ago. I don't regret it at all.
