teething at three months?

Did anyone's baby get teeth at three or four months?  Owen didn't get any teeth until 8 months, so to me that would be really unusual, but Ellie is really drooly and has wicked diaper rash...so I'm just wondering....

Re: teething at three months?

  • Granted her first tooth didn't make an appearance till 9 months Caroine was teething around 2-3 months. Super drooly! Also, sensitive when you touched. You could see a little white, but then it just stopped.

The diaper rash was another big giveaway when her teeth came. So, glad I came and talked to you ladies since I was worried :P

She still only has her front bottom teeth, and her side top teeth are starting to come through.

  • Same here. Eli had all of the signs early- super drooly, diaper rash, etc, but his first tooth didn't poke through until 10 months. He still drools all the time and gets a rash when a new tooth is coming in- only 5 more to go!

  • My best friend's baby popped a tooth at 3.5 months!  Early, I guess, but it happens for sure!
  • Yeah - well - not MY baby cuz there is none - but I grew up hearing the story of how my baby sis popped a tooth, bit my mom, and was kicked off the boob at 3 mos.
  • Lily got her first two teeth at 3 months, and two more about 3 weeks later. It is early for teething, and makes for some interesting nursing, lol. Brooke and Kailey didn't start getting teeth until they were about 6-7months, so it's hard to judge one kiddo from another there.

I've read about that, that would freak me out if baby smiled and shined his/her pearly whites :P

Marcus got really drooly at that age and everyone said "he's teething, he's teething"...but then he didn't get a tooth for 5 months.  It seems like that's pretty common - isn't there something going on with their salivary glands around that time?

Yeah, I felt the same way with Owen -- it seemed like he was "teething" forever...I think I'm grasping for reasons for the diaper rash because it's not going away, even with Desitin/disposables. :P

  • Grace cut her first tooth right before she turned 4 month!

  • Developmentally they start drooling more between 2 and 3 months - something about producing more saliva than they can swallow. But certainly some babies get teeth early! R was drooling and chewing like mad around 2 months, but didn't get her first tooth until 11 months. She just cut her 2nd yesterday. Could it be a yeast rash? I hear those are stubborn and tend to get worse with standard bum creams.

I was also thinking yeast. They look more like defined blisters..we used lotrimum to clear it up. Although it sounds like she might be getting some pearly whites!

  • The ped checked it out for yeast/bacteria/fungal/etc. but apparently it's just run of the mill diaper rash -- it's just really stubborn.  If it's sunny again tomorrow, I'm going to air her butt out in the sun.

I really hope it's not a tooth yet!
