I'm mostly a lurker here. I've only post on this board a time or two, but I need some quick advice.
Our (twice hand me down) washer finally kicked the bucket and we will be heading out to Home Depot on Sunday to pick up a new one. We are looking at inexpensive washers because it will end up in our guest house as soon as we build our home. This washer will need to last us at least a year of everyday use and occasional use after that.
The cheapest washers at Home Depot are here. There are a few differences in them, but they are relatively similar.
Which would you choose? Or, do you have something better in mind that you would go with? We would like to stay under $400 or so, if possible.
Re: Please help me pick a washer.
Well, considering the selection, I guess I'd go with Model GTWP2000MWW.
You're severely limited on wash cycle options (nothing but heavy duty and regular, looks like) with all of them, but this one comes with hoses and power cord (which, weirdly, the others say they don't).
I guess as long as you don't plan on throwing any delicates/knits in there, it should serve your basic needs for keeping clothes clean for the next year. I have a lot of clothes I like to wash on gentle, so I guess that's my own personal hang-up!
Any reason you don't want to (or can't) buy your long-term washing machine now and find the cheaper one for the guest house later?

Yeah the options suck.
I am not as worried about the power cords and hoses because that is something we can pick up when we are at HD.
We are just trying to buy some time to actually pick the set we would like and have it installed new when the house is new. Our dryer still works great and I am not worried about having a matching set or even a nice set in the guest house.
I HATE GE products! I have a 8 year old washer and dryer, already replaced the washer a year ago and the dryer is almost out. DH has a 20 year old washer for his work clothes. It's still running strong.
We have the Amana front loader and I love it.
