Hey Guys,
My brother and his finance are just clueless about what to do for their honeymoon. They don't want to drop a fortune, they could go yes or no on the beach. So I told them I would ask you guys where you went for some ideas.
Thanks!
Re: Honeymoon Poll
we only spent about $2500 total for our honeymoon and took a 9 day cruise from new york to turks and caicos, st. thomas, puerto rico, and bermuda... i loved the fact that i spent very little money and saw 4 different islands.
as far as cruise drink bill: i had about 3 or 4 drinks a day (mainly applemartinis and wine).. my husband drank mostly beer. we had a soda card that was $6 a day and took 3 excursions and our cruise bill was $400... not so bad.
Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
not bad at all Diane! thanks, i'll def be passing this along
We did Disney (3 years later) and also Daytona, Coco Beach and New Symrna while down there. Very cheap.
For the day after our wedding we did NYC and say 3 Broadway shows in 2 days. Lot of fun!
WOW! I have been on 6 cruises and NEVER only spent $400! I will drink anywhere between 2 and 6 drinks a day and hubby drinks maybe 6 beers a day. Add that to our shore excursions (we sometimes wait until we get to the island before booking something since it's more $ through the cruiseline) and the automatic tips, I am lucky if we spend less than $800. I must drink expensive drinks and do expensive excursions.
We went to Orlando for a week and did a cruise for 6 days for our honeymoon. The Orlando part of our HM was far from cost friendly. We went to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Sea World, Universal and a Cirque du Soleil show. I wouldn't have had it any other way though because we had a blast!!
Cruises are ma thang (even if I apparently over spend) so I always vote for a cruise!
We went to Excellence Playa Mujeres in Cancun. It's an all inclusive resort. The resort was a little pricey, but there are so many beautiful all inclusive resports in Cancun so they could look there too.
they should go to a travel agent, and let the travel agent know what there budget is, and let him/her give them some options. That's what we did.
I also agree with Nikntrev...we've cruised a few times, and that bill can get expensive. We they are usually almost $1000 each time with drinks and excursions.
We went to Maui and used an exchange of my parents' time share week so we spent very little. Otherwise, hotels in Maui are pretty expensive, and so is the island in general.
There are so many great travel deals right now bc of the economy. I agree for them to go to a travel agent or if they are more independent start looking on Travelzoo or other sites for ideas.
Cruises out of NY or NJ are a good option bc you save with no airfare. I am one of those people who smuggles alcohol on the ship so I never spend too much onboard- maybe only buy one or two drinks a day (so like 10 bucks a day).
We paid for our own wedding, so we chose to spend a week at the Sagamore in Lake George...Got a fancy lodge room and took the boat, did massages and room service...it was FABULOUS! for our fifth wedding anniversary we are going to go somewhere tropical
The Sagamore with all the fun stuff was about 2000 bucks...
they actually might really like something like this. My brother is not a huge fan of the beach and they enjoy hiking and that kinda thing.
Thanks ladies! If you have any other tips/suggestions whatever feel free! Thanks again

We didn't have a lot to spend on our honeymoon either, which was fine with us. So we went up to Vermont and it was so nice and relaxing. I'm so happy that we decided to do that. We went shopping, relaxed and had some nice dinners. It was great!!
We love love love Cruises & highly recomend them!! ... You can always sneak some booze on the ship to save money hehe!!
But the year of our wedding we had gone on a cruise in April & had another one planned for November so we didn't want to do a 3rd in August. We went to Aruba all inclusive it was awesome!

i love Couples Tower Isle in Jamaica. We had a great time there and it cost us about $5k for 2wks. It's all inclusive with great food, wonderful drinks, an amazing staff. Just about everything was included with the exception of golf, the spa, shopping and they are going to charge a fee for horseback riding.
