Holy hell re: No on Prop 8

Have you guys seen this ad? It's humorous, but it's pretty ridiculous.

Re: Holy hell re: No on Prop 8

  • I don't like it.  I don't remember who said it, but I agree that bigotry to fight bigotry is never the right way to go.
  • It's running on TV...it's effective, I like it, but there is a part of me that feels a little uncomfortable with it at the same time. But when the LDS church is spearheading the effort to take away rights, I think the ad goes with the territory.
  • We discussed yesterday.  I don't like it.
  • Sorry. Didn't realize it had already been discussed. I just saw it on MSNBC. I'm with you guys, I don't like it either. I agree LMW that it certainly makes the point, but it's a bit much.

  • Yeah, dont like that one.

I like the Samuel L. Jackson one the most.

It makes a point... but I don't think it's the point that should be emphasized to win over undecided voters.  If you're undecided on gay marriage, you're probably either grappling with your faith on the issue or you're narrowminded.  So I doubt this ad is going to win over many of the former as the source of the mormons' opposition to it is similar to yours, and to win over the latter you have to hope their prejudice against mormons is greater than their prejudice against gays.

It might rile up opponents of Prop 8, but even on here among anti-Prop 8 agnostics the feelings are mixed at best, so I'm not totally convinced of that.
