Breaking Up with Your Job

dgbayerdgbayer member
Giving your two week notice is like breaking up with a really nice guy. There is nothing wronge with you...but I found something else that would be a better fit. Even though I am super excited about my upcoming new job....giving the two week notice sucked!! Tell me your experiences!!

Re: Breaking Up with Your Job

  • I gave my 2 weeks on Monday and my boss has yet to acknowledge me. I just hoep she has my replacement by the end of the month.

  • I gave notice and they were beyond rude about it. I simply didn't come back.

  • Giving two weeks' at my last job broke my heart.  Giving two weeks at this one when it comes....well, it won't break my heart.

Two jobs ago, I gave four days' notice.  It was a jerk move, but I didn't owe my boss anything, since he'd treated me like crap.  I felt bad for everyone else, though, who had to scramble to figure out how to cover my job.

The last time I gave two weeks notice it was both exhilirating and sad at the same time. My workplace was changing and not in a way that would work well with me. I was moving 6 hours away to live with my fiance. They took the news well, and I felt good about leaving. Now whenever I go back to visit, its just really weird.

  • At my last job, my boss refused to speak to me after putting in my notice.  Even at my going away party.  It was so awkward.

  • At my last job, she wasn't happy, but she gave me the last three days off paid because I wouldn't have any time between my old and new job! I'd go back there any time!
