s/o reason for leaving

If I was laid off from a job should I just say that, or can I say it wasn't a good fit?  My boss and I constantly butted heads.  After 14 months of this, we got into an argument and let me go. I can provide more details if needed.

Re: s/o reason for leaving

  • If you were laid off.. then you were laid off. But you make it sound like you were fired. Your answer should really match what your prior employer will say when they are called.
  • Agreed.  It sounds like you were fired.  If you have a decent HR talk with them and see what kind of information they give out when a interested employer would call.  Some places only give start date and end date.  Unless it was for a policy/security issue they may not say anything.  You definately want to know how HR or any verifier would phrase it though.  Telling a future employer you were laid off when in fact you were fired could really look poorly on you.
