I think several of us here have benefited from these sites.  I really like living social because if three people use your referral you get yours free :-)  There are other sites, too.  The portland press herald has one, restaurant.com is good.  I'm sure there are others.  Totally legit and totally awesome!

  • I'm one of the many on here obsessed with deals. Date night last week was entirely run by deals:

    • Dinner at Pacarino ($30 for $15 from Groupon)
    • Dessert at Gorgeous Gelato ($10 for $5 from LivingSocial. I've been twice there and it is AMAZING and better than the other Gelato place IMO. THe coffee is awesome, too.)
    • Pirates of the Caribbean in 3D (Two tickets for <$9)
If you have a smartphone, definitely get the app for both. I never print out my coupons since I can just pull up my list of coupons right on my phone. Everywhere just needs the number anyways, so save a tree and don't print.

  • I am seriously considering purchasing today's LivingSocial deal - $37 for a one-hour deep tissue massage...I had my first deep tissue massage last week when we went away for our anniversary and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be needing another one soon  Big Smile

sorry!  back to your question...I have also used LivingSocial and my boss buys Groupon restaurant deals all the time - we also used The Maine Deal to promote the inn where I work a while back - all have been legitimate, so far!
