BIL and SIL are coming up next weekend. They are buying all the stuff for a picnic/cookout and asked us to pick a park.
I know parks will be popular since it will be the holiday weekend. I was thinking Johnson park (where 28th St and Wilson meet) but we checked it out yesterday and there were a ton of mosquitoes. I doubt they'll go away in a week. I know a lot of parks in the area at least have some water, but that park is right next to the Grand River.
Ideas for where else we could go? They requested BBQs, and we'd like at least a small play area for Baby Rebel. But otherwise even a bit of drive wouldn't bother us.
TIA!
Re: Park ideas?
We love Millenium Park, however the number of picnic tables not under the shaded (rentable area) is limited
Frog Hollow Park
I wonder if Klingman's Playground on 28th has picnic tables. That park is never crowded. The bad thing is that you are right off 28th street.
Lamar Park in Wyoming - they have a splash park.
If you go to GRmoms.com (I think that is the site), they are putting together a park list.
So many great parks in GR area!
We had our wedding reception at Douglas Walker park in Byron Center, and go back a few times a year. It has a stream that runs through it, BBQ grills, plenty of picnic tables (shaded and not), and a playground that works for all ages.
If you want to take a ride, you could go to Fallasburg or Townsend. Or, you guys go head west and go to the beach.
Here's the Kent Co parks site http://www.accesskent.com/CultureLeisureAndTransit/Parks/
Have a great time!
