I have been at my job just under 3 years. I feel safe to say that I feel very secure in my job. Last week the big boss handed out a survey for all workers to fill out that asked for 5 things you do that are most important, 5 things you do that waste your time, etc.
I am so nervous to turn mine in because I am admin/receptionist so I didn't have 5 things that waste my time. I do the things that waste other peoples time!
I know I am well liked and do feel appreciated most of the time, but I'm just a nervous person and do get very intimidated by the big boss. I'm afraid of being called in and asked to go into more detail and getting emotional from nerves.
DH has said not to worry and if anything happens (like if they fire me for whatever reason I am making up in my head) we will be fine. Just needed to get this off my chest.
Re: Nervous for tomorrow
I know you aren't asking for advice, but this is just general: Why worry about something you can't control?
Also, from the sound of the survey, that could be for anything. Maybe he is looking for ideas for new positions that need to be created? Or maybe ideas for how to streamline a process at your job? If he didn't explicitly say what the survey was for, then you have no idea if it's to lay off people or to promote people, etc.
Good luck!

I absolutely agree. This is an opportunity for you to show your creativity or problem solving skills! Rather than thinking of things that are a "waste of time" think of things you are involved in that can be improved, and propose a solution. And you can phrase it in that light as well: "I believe there are two process which may offer some opportunities for streamlining. I have a proposal on what this efficiency might look like. Mind if I share it with you?" Any boss worth his weight in salt would appreciate your efforts, even if your proposal didn't end up going through in the long run.
Good luck - people who use every opportunity to shine in front of the boss are the ones who get ahead. It may seem daunting but don't be afraid to take calculated risks.
