formerly/currently pg girls

are any cold meds safe? I am really congested and H has so nicely given me his head cold. I cant seem to figure it out on safefetus.com and my old docs office blows at returning calls.

  • I'm pretty sure that Tylenol cold products are safe, but I'm curious to what the other girls think.

  • I would always call the pharmacy when i had a ? about that sort of thing...they are the real experts on the safety of the drug...

  • i went to my primary doctor when i first got pregnant because i had a bad sinus/cold. he wrote me a prescription and told me to stay away from over the counter medicine with multi-symptom care (including tylenol).

i would call your doctor and make an appointment just to be safe

Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
  • I was told not to do anything.  If my nose/sinuses were congested I was allowed to do the sinus rinse.  It sucked!

  • I was told no cold meds.  The only thing I was allowed to take was Benadryl.  I would err on the side of caution and wait until you talk to someone.

    Feel better.

  • I personally dont feel comfortable taking anything over the counter without clearing it with my doctor. I would call tomorrow and ask just to be on the safe side :)
  • I was told it was ok to take regular strength Robitussin for a cold or cough (no Robitussin DM or any of the fancy ones...lol) and Regular strength Tylenol was fine for a headache but no extra strength.

You can ask the pharmacist or just wait until morning and call the Dr. and ask. There are a few that are safe during pregnancy. On Safefetus.com anything with a "B" rating or above is considered safe for pregnancy.

  • I was cleared to take regular Sudafed...make sure it doesnt have any letters after it. But try saline spray and a netipot.
  • I didn't take anything at all. Good thing my colds were not that bad. I say check with your doctor just to be sure.
  • I called into Dr Simonson at 10pm on sunday night and within 5 mins I got a call back! Big points for him & nybride10 for the rec!

He said I could take tylenol flu or tylenol sinus. Im getting that a nettipot and my new zofran rx on my way home tonight! Thank God for 24 hr CVS!

  • I was told I could take regular dimetap but nothing with a decongestant in it.  The meds made things tolerable but not much better.  My doc didn't even want me to take that much but after 2wks of not getting better I had to do something.
