Keurig users: come on in!

For my birthday, I was thinking of asking for a keurig coffee machine. I'm not sure where to start. Can anyone recommend their model and what you like/dislike about it? Also, where do you buy your k cups?

Re: Keurig users: come on in!

  • I have never met a Keurig I didn't like.

I have the Keurig Special Edition:

Running at $150ish depending on where you go, the 20% BBB coupon brings it down to $120, abn believe you me, it is worth every penny.

This is actually my second machine.  My first one broke after a year because I never knew to descale it, which in turn ruined the motor, but Keurig's customer service is fantastic (and based out of MA, to boot) and even though my warranty was up, they offered me a $100 credit through their site to order a new one.  I've learned from my mistakes, and the new one I have is still running fine, so whatever you do, don't forget to descale your machine with vinegar every 6 months!

I used to purchase my k-cups through coffeewiz.com because their prices were lower than anywhere else, and the selection was far beyond anywhere else locally, and if you ordered $50 or more you received free FedEx shipping, but with the increase in Green Mountain's prices, and the Keurig's popularity rising, I don't find much need to order online anymore.  Again, I go to BBB with my 20% coupon and pick up my k-cups from there.

I'm a fan of Donut Shop, and also any Breakfast Blend, but flavor-wise, Green Mountain came out with an Island Coconut this year and it's my absolute favorite... at least until the seasonal flavors like Pumpkin Spice and Eggnog and Gingerbread come back around.

  • This wasn't exactly your question, but we went with the Tassimo instead of the Keurig. We liked it because it took up less space on the counter and can brew iced coffee, lattes and cappuccinos which I don't think you can do with the Keurig.

Also if you're a Starbucks fan, you can get their coffee for the Tassimo. The only downside to the Tassimo is there is less coffee variety available, but we've found it to be plenty for us.

    Just my 2 cents! :)

In the same train of thought, DD k-cups are coming out sometime this summer!  And/or you can buy the reusable k-cup and just add your own ground coffee!

  • I went to an expo and the new keurig machines do ice coffee and cappachino! I like the idea of keurig because I drink decaf or half caf and Glen drinks full caf. It would be convenient to have both. I found keurig machines petty cheap online. (under $115). Oh, an MB, I need to try the coconut coffee now! Nom!
