Oprah is ending. What do you think about it?
Are you planning a viewing party? Will you miss Oprah? Do you not care? Curious what others think.
Me: Don't care that it is ending. I stopped enjoying Oprah years ago. I found that she did not offer equal viewpoints to many topics featured on her shows and viewers just accepted Oprah's word as "the truth" and never questioned it. IMO, that's way too much influence and power for one person (she has become a one-person industry). Maybe the end of her show is another sign of the Rapture.
Re: Oprah is ending. What do you think about it?
Erbur..as usual, I pretty much agree 100% with you. I find her following to be cult like. Everyone just thinks her word is the end all be all. Its just strange. I also feel like she's always talking about how great she is.
I will say though that I like when she uses her cult powers for good. Like her no texting and driving campaign. But other than that, I don't care if she stays or goes.
My little nuggets
This. I think she is entirely too full of herself and think its ridiculous that some of the women I've seen on the news treat her like she's a god or something. I will probably watch the final episode because she reminds me of Michael Scott. "You all know that I love fanfare for fanfare's sake."
Some of the OWN shows remind me of SNL skits (these are actual show titles from the OWN network):
I'm heartbroken. What will I do? What will I read? What will I wear? How will I know what to think about things?
Without her giving me guidance on every aspect of my life, I will be lost.
Thank goodness for OWN,
I curse her for introducing America to Tory Burch flats -- the most poorly construct luxury shoe on the market.
The Favorite Things episodes kill me. Free luxury goods for upper middle class white ladies. Or should I say "whiiiiiiiiiiiitttte laaaaaaadiiiiiiiiies".
She is like a Robin Hood with zero perspective.
Oh FFS. This kills me.
I don't care at all. I think she does good things but is an egomaniac.
All I can say is thank god she mostly uses her powers for good, because can you IMAGINE the alternative? *shudder*
I admire her for getting another woman, and a black woman, on the Forbes 400, she has sucessfully created an entertainment empire (we'll see if OWN tips that bucket over finally), and that is no small feat. Maybe it is a cult of personality, but she's a very powerful woman. I'm kind of an egomaniac and I've not done anything so massive.
As far as the show, I lost interest in it many years ago.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
I haven't seen Oprah since college and I started working full time. I haven't been home at 4 p.m. in ages.
Not a fan of her or her show, alothough I did watch the two episodes when she and Gale went camping in Yellowstone.
But I agree 100% with Erbur and Kernal
