This weekend I found HORNWORMS!!! UGH!!! But only 3 and they were really tiny, so JJ squished them. We aren't planning to spray unless we start finding many rotten tomatoes, these were just on the leaves for now.
I picked about 20 romas and I have one butternut that I'm going to pick on Thursday evening for dinner. It's about 10" long! It's weird because some of the butternuts are only 4-5" and already look ripe, I think they just aren't getting enough water and are ripening faster because of it.

Re: Garden updates?
Our herbs are great. I did salmon with a fruit salsa last night and I loved just going out and picking the cilantro.
Our eggplant is blooming, but no vegetable yet. Our strawberries have seemed to go dormant.
Our zucchini suck this year, too
Maybe they just need more water? IDK. It's still early though and the vine is growing longer, just no zucchini.
Last year my eggplant flowered, but then took soooo long to produce fruit. It was probably not until August that I was getting 4-5/week from 3 plants.
We have harvested one zucchini so far - I made cheese and almond stuffed zucchini. I am getting lots of male flowers but very few female.
We have cabbage that is doing surprisingly well. I've got some homemade coleslaw in my lunch today.
Tomatoes are taking forever to turn red. A few have gotten holes in them too. Is that hornworms?
Our (hot) pepper plants are starting to produce. The bell peppers were started to late, they've got a long way to go before we get fruit.
I think that's it...
My Ovulation Chart
Our tomato plants seem to suck compared to the rest of you ladies! We planted romas and so far nothing! They really don't even look that big. Did you guys plant your tomatoes from seeds or get seedlings??
I am also starting to get a few green beans (yay!). We picked 2 more strawberries but DH says he thinks it is getting too hot for them to produce so hopefully we will get some more in the fall. Our sugar pumpkins are doing awesome! I will have to try and go out to the garden and take some pictures of them!!
We're seriously behind the rest of you, so DH is just now getting my raised bed started this coming weekend. The tomatoes really need it, they're getting too big for the container I transplanted them to temporarily.
The marigolds Jeffery planted are HUGE, and again, I'm waiting on DH to fix a crack in our irrigation pipe right where I want to plant them. He's doing that today. I'll likely transplant them tomorrow.
Lastly, the seller left a bird feeder here, and we put in seed today, and I've seen no less than six birds just this afternoon! I'm so pumped, and Jeffery is amazed at it! He loves to stand at the back sliding glass door and watch them. The only problem is that now I have a pair of finches building a nest in my hanging potted petunias! DH took Jeffery to the store to get a bird house to put out further from the house, since he really didn't want to be attacked by birds any time he wanted to grill out!
