XP: Anyone use an English larder cabinet in lieu of a walk-in pantry?

Looks like we may have to reign in our addition due to a neighbor complaint.

So, my walk-in corner pantry will probably have to go. The English larder cabinets look like a space-efficient way to fit in a pantry.

I've never seen one of these in real life though. Anyone have one (or seen one)? Thoughts?

  • No idea, but what's the problem with your neighbor?? You should get your pantry!
  • You mean this?

That looks divine!  We use a closet with shelves and accordion doors.  I lose stuff in the back so this looks like heaven!  I'd probably prefer it to a walk in because you wouldn't lose the floor space (I also would probably end up with junk on the floor if I had the floor space, so less is usually better for me)

  • Oh wow, WANT!

  • Yes!  And that's the photo I have saved!

We're planning to build on to the back of our house, which would allow me to have a bigger kitchen.  But our next-door neighbor is saying that the addition will block her light and views.  The more I think about it, the more it annoys me.  It really only blocks her view (distant view of maybe Oakland or some trees) from a small side window and doesn't impact the light at all.  But depending of how much of a fight she puts up, we may have to make further accomodations (we've already cut back on the addition on the top floor on their side).  I really didn't expect these neighbors to be so difficult (and totally expected others to be completely unreasonable, but they all love the plans and totally support us!).

    ***sigh***

  • PinkHighlighter, I'm going to send you an email.
