Okay, so, been MIA because our computer broke at home and I've been super busy at work with the extra time off because of the furlough...so a little update from me (because I know you care):
The computer ended up having to be replaced, which we did yesterday. They were able to transfer all of our stuff over to the new computer, baby pics, etc...which makes me wonder if there are any inappropriate pics on there (I assume they don't look but I know I'm nosy as hell, so, come on!)
I wrote a grant proposal to our local community foundation asking for a new computer and donor software for work...hoping they approved it but I don't really have a feeling one way or another. My laptop is out of memory and it takes literally 20 minutes from turning on the computer to getting my outlook open and loaded. The hospital IT guy told me a month or two ago that because we're in the middle of EMR, my computer is probably the LAST one on the list of things to upgrade, so I have to find my money elsewhere.
I almost applied (as in, went as far as writing the cover letter and updating my resume) for another part-time job as a coordinator/fundraiser for a program that teaches financial literacy to women...I probably would have gotten it (I'm on a board with the hiring manager and she was excited when I told her I might apply) but it was half of what I make here, with more stress (not to mention the extra hours). Instead, I asked my boss if there was a chance I could go to 40 hrs/wk here instead of having to get a second job...which I was thinking about. Hello, leverage. He told me he'd rather have me work all my hours here so we can definitely review in July (end of our fiscal year). They're looking at adding another component to my job (managing the computer based learning that we just started) and he is well aware I won't accept it without additional hours.
Miss May is a crazy crawler/standing up on everything/babbling maniac. She was 16 lbs, 10 oz. and 27" at her last appointment. No teeth yet, but everyone claims she is working on them...whatever, I have no clue. She is feeling much better from her last ear infection and we see the ENT on Wednesday. I'm interested to see what he says. She is beyond the best thing that has ever happened to us, both separately and as a couple, and she is beyond a joy. I just hope that you pregnant ladies get the same kind of amazing joy out of your LO once they are here. You really can't imagine it until it happens. I have rarely thought twice of the sacrifices I have had to make. It was definitely hard in the beginning...but as the months have gone on I can hardly remember being upset about being fat, dealing with a crying baby, always being the one to get up with her. It just doesn't seem to matter that much in comparison.
Okay, that's it; carry on!!! Thanks for reading if you got this far; you know by now I am long winded!
Re: Computers, work, and babies, oh my!
I really hope they can find the money to get you a new computer. That's crazy that it takes you 20 mintues to boot up!! when will you know something? When are they going to add another component to your job, so you can go back to 40 hours a week?
I'm glad May is doing much better. You know that made me smile. Like always please let me know what the ENT says on Wednesday! I'm anxious over here.
Hang in there!!
We had to buy it out of pocket. We never buy the extended warranty...I cannot convince Clint that it's worth it (even now, with the computer dying after less than three years).
The committee reviewed my application last week so hopefully I'll hear something this week. The board chair (who I've been in communication with) said she'd let me know as soon as she knew something, which leads me to believe it's bad news and I'll be getting a "sorry" letter in the mail here this week. But that's just my mind running away with it. I think my Foundation will buy me a new one otherwise.
Whether or not they add the education component to my job, I will probably be going up to 5 days a week starting in July or August sometime. Just have to wait and make sure finances went the right direction in May and June (which, April looked good, so hopefully we'll be fine!)
Our appt is at 11:30 CST, so hopefully I'll be able to update shortly after! I know we were double booked, so we might have to wait awhile...ugh, I hope not!
I think it's great your current job wants you to stay put- and that he is aware you won't w/out more hours. Leverage= good thing.
In a previous job, I managed the implementation of a computer based learning/LMS system. Happy to help you if you have any questions.
Also- THANK you for the update on May!!! Specifically this stuff "I have rarely thought twice of the sacrifices I have had to make. It was definitely hard in the beginning...but as the months have gone on I can hardly remember being upset about being fat, dealing with a crying baby, always being the one to get up with her. It just doesn't seem to matter that much in comparison."
It is really nice to hear these things when all I am these days is anxious.
My computer died at home, too...and I've only had it for a year. Boo hiss. I jacked my mom's laptop until I can figure out what's wrong with mine.
I hope May is OK! I know the ear thing can be nerve wracking, but JJ did so much better after tubes that I wish we'd gotten them sooner.
Glad you're getting so much joy out of May!
Be careful with those photos. I had a consultation recently with a guy who is separated from his wife. They were still on fairly good terms, though, I guess, because she asked him to go into her laptop and email a resume for her. He did, but while he was there, he decided to snoop and opened her Facebook, which was set to automatic login. He went into her private messages, saw messages between her and a guy she'd been sleeping with, and got jealous and angry. In those messages, she had sent the guy very explicit photos of the two of them... straight up porn; I saw 'em. The husband downloaded them to his phone, then posted them on either his or her public Facebook wall. Maybe both. And this isn't the first time I've had a case involving phos that got out. So just keep 'em close. Personally, I'd never allow their existence, but stuff like that makes me nervous.

I definitely don't have any sexually explicit photos of myself, but we do have photos of May after she was born and photos of bath time that I typically would not allow other people to see.

Aww, your such a cute mom! Thanks for the feel-goods.
I hope they do give you more hours, and maybe a raise for extra duties too!

Same here. I have some bath pics of Little D that I would not want others to see.
