Slugs - ick - they're invading my deck.
DH and I just bought our house and over the last week I have noticed a lot of slugs climbing on our deck at night... ICK. These are not small little slugs either - they're like 3 inches long. Last night DH put salt on them and I think he took joy in watching them die a slow death.
Anyone have any ideas how to get rid of them completely? We just had our house landscaped professionally and getting ready to plant some veggies. I don't want these things invading everything.
I'm not sure what's worse - the slugs or the ants.

Ditto beer and coffee grounds.
My mom takes cans of beer, pours some out for her homies, then cuts the can top off and buries it a little in the ground around the area with the problems. She'll also sprinkle coffee grounds around...
And i'm thinking since they're going to your deck, you should surround your deck with a thick line of salt. The salt will kill them and make then shrivel, not keep away, but dead slugs are better than alive slugs.
