Got a recommendation from an RV friend of mine for this cleaning solution to cleaning the outside of the camper (vinyl side) & after using it, i'm sure it could be used on other things too.
1 scoop of power laundry detergent
1 cup of bleach
1-2 squirts of green palmolive
put in bucket & add water. It worked AMAZING, it got it so clean & white, it looks brand new. Just used a regula sponge & then a brush for a few stubborn areas. I'm sure it would on anything that it's ok to use bleach on.
Another cleaning discovery made this weekend. We had some rust stains on the camper from the roof racks that leaked (thru the rusty screw holes). We bought CLR and it sucked!! Did a little bit of research & found "the works" toilet bowl or tub/shower cleaner works awesome on vinyl to remove rust stains (and on concrete). Used it & it removed the stains so easily and it was from the Dollar store, double bonus!
Any other odd combo's you have created that make awesome cleaning solutions?
Re: interesting combo = awesome cleaning product
H's friend used to have a power wash company (moved out of state), and he used this cleaner from the dollar store (I think it was California something) to power wash our old house. It did an amazing job! I was really surprised. Not sure if we'll go that route for this house if there is a better option.
Don't have any odd combo's, but we had the same problem (the body and vinyl) when we bought our camper a few weeks ago. The whole thing was so dirty nothing worked except Clorox clean-up. I just sprayed it on and by the time I got done spraying the whole thing, all I had to do was hose it off. All the dirt and mildew spots disappeared. The vinyl part I had to scrub a little but not too much. Looked like a brand new camper when I got done with it.

My bathroom drain gets grimy and starts to drain pretty slowly -- I'll pour some baking soda down there and then flush it with white vinegar. After a couple minutes, I'll flush it out with hot water. Works just as good as Draino and much cheaper!!
Baking Soda and Vinegar in a bottle with water (maybe half vinegar/half water or so) seem to really do the trick as an all purpose. I have yet to play with Borax but I like the 'green' solutions.
Borax is amazing at keeping away the mold in the bathroom. I live in an older house, and our bathroom has really poor ventilation. We were getting mold spots on the ceiling and in some crevices of the tub. I could clean it with a bleach cleaner, but the mold would be back in a week or two. Borax kills the mold at the source -- about once a year I mix some with hot water and just wipe down the entire surface of the bathroom. I haven't seen mold since...
