Quiet toys for wedding

We are taking G to a wedding next weekend. She is a wiggly worm and doesn't sit still for long so I'm looking for a good, quiet, new, fun idea to keep her busy for 30-45 minutes (or less...if we could make it through half it'd be a miracle).

I'll bring books-but what else? I don't have time to make a quiet book and I think she's probably too young for one anyone.

  • We have a travel size magna doodle toy that keeps AJ occupied at church.
Happy mom to two sweet, silly boys: Cohen age 4, AJ age 2.

Exactly what I was going to suggest :)

  • IPAD OR IPOD WITH HEADPHONES WORKS WONDERS!  oops sorry it is in all caps, I'm not that excited, really!  we have games downloaded that Cole loves and we only reserve for occasions like weddings.  I highly recommend the "Wheels on the bus" app!
  • We use DH's IPhone for situations like this. If there's wireless, she watches Dora on YouTube, if not - she plays with the apps downloaded for her.

  • do you have a smart phone?  there are tons of apps in the market for little kids.  I also was going to suggest the aquadoodle.  or even something from color wonders.  T got this black paper with a "magic" pen and it keeps his busy for at least 45 mins.

  • We have: My first words, toddlers Farm, abc Animals....I think some of these might be too old for G though, but who knows. I always just google "best toddler Apps" and go from there..

  • All this APP talk makes me think "how did our parents do it?" LOL you know?
  • These are all good ideas, but I have to tell you, I think they would work better for someone 2+.  Maybe I'm just pessimistic based on my girls ability to stay quiet in church, but I don't think there is much you can do to entertain a just-turned 1 yr old in a quiet place when they can't walk around.  Gretta could play my phone forever, but Ingrid doesn't get it at all except for a chew toy.  Ingrid did make it through 40 minutes of church yesterday, but she was crawling all over and I had tons of snacks.

I guess if it was me I'd bring some books, some just quiet little toys (think happy meal style balls, barbies, etc) that she'll probably like to look at, throw, whatever. and then plenty of little snack food.  And I'd be prepared to leave with her. I already assume that my parents will have to take Ingrid out during my BIL's wedding in Oct. I just don't think it is realistic to expect a 1 yr old to sit still.  I've seen it happen (and I've been very jealous) but its not likely.
