BIL Restaurant Selection Help
My BIL is coming in on Thursday. He will be spending that day with someone else and meeting up for dinner with us on Friday. We'll be trying to stay either in Grapevine, Southlake, Las Colinas or going down into Dallas. Do you girls have any recs? We're already considering Mi Cocina in Southlake, Anamia's (also in Southlake), La Joya in Las Colinas, and Sambuca in Uptown. Any other recs for someone who's never been in Dallas before? (He did come for the wedding but didn't have a whole lot of time available to hit some of the fun places up. He's leaving on Saturday).
Re: BIL Restaurant Selection Help
If he likes Mexican food, there is a great place called Esparza's off of the square in Grapevine. I haven't come across a dish I didn't like there. There is a small bar next door with pool tables and music that's very relaxed and fun to hang out with.
It's also off of the square with some shopping which kind of has a small townish feel to him if he hasn't experienced that before although I know most guys aren't up for shopping.
Sambuca is also really nice or you could also do Avanti in uptown which has great Italian food or Trulucks in uptown which serves seafood, steaks, etc. All are great choices! Have a good time.
Julie is well versed in Grapevine! Haha
Have you thought about Brio in Southlake? Or Buca di Beppo?
Bio
I think Brio would be fun but I think he has one in Charlotte (where he lives). I'm trying to go outside our comfort zone and especially Mexican. My FIL does not like Mexican food (boo!) so we're hoping that will be okay with BIL. We're also thinking steak maybe.
Cantina Laredo?
There is that Bol Na Braza or something like that in Grapevine. I haven't been but I've heard its good!
P.S. I'm now craving salsa from Anamia's.
Oh, BIL loves Brazilian steak houses. I'll have to add that to the list.
Anamia's is pretty good. We need to go there again.
Not in the areas you mentioned, but we always take OOT guests to Fogo de Chao in Addison and Joe T Garcias in Ft. Worth. Fogo does have some other locations, but not many and Joe T's is an experience :-)
If you haven't been to Lonesome Dove in Ft. Worth you might try that. It's fancy southwestern fare, it's $$$, but really good. The owner was on Top Chef Masters.
ETA
If you want to be touristy you could go to 560 at the top of Reunion Tower. It's a Wolfgang Puck resturaunt. We went for our anniversary this year, and it was really good.
I went about 5 years ago and the food wasn't that great for the price you paid. The atmosphere was cool. We saw the table behind us get engaged, that was neat. Cliche, but neat.
But, I've heard they have changed ownership in the last few years and the food has vastly improved. I'm interested in trying it again.
When we went H told our waiter that I had a huge crush on Tim Love (which is true since I saw him on Top Chef, he's really cute!) toward the end of our meal he came to our table and chatted with us for awhile!! I was totally starstruck and may have giggled waaaay to much!
Wow! That's pretty cool. I'll have to keep this in mind for this weekend (or another weekend entirely).
Daaang! I don't think I would have been capable of speech, I was starstruck just seeing him across the room! My husband has a friend who works at the new Love Shack in Denton, and apparently the first night they were open Tim Love was there washing dishes for a whole shift. He seems like such a nice guy.
He was at Love Shack last Thursday chatting everyone up.
