(RP from D&R)
I want/need a rain barrel. I keep seeing collapsible ones and think they would be perfect but reviews are mixed.
I think something at least 50 gallons would be great and I dont want to spend more than $75 if possible. Here are 3 that I thought would work:

FWIW I dont want to build one (I would like something that I can store inside in the winter. We dont have a garage so it would go in the basement.)
Re: Anyone have a rain barrel? Talk to me.
We bought this one a few months ago on Amazon:

When we bought it, it was cheaper at Amazon (around $50) and now it is over $100! Not sure why the jump in price, but it might come back down. The price isn't bad at HD.
Some reviews on Amazon complained about the plastic spigot. It has been fine for us so far, but we plan on eventually replacing it with a metal spigot.
One thing I like about this model over some others is that the water enters the rain barrel through a hose hooked to the drainspout. Then, when it is full, the water just goes back out and down the drainspout. Some have you direct the drainspout directly into the top of the barrel, and then any overage just overflows onto the ground all around the barrel.
I have this one: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Suncast-50-Gallon-Rain-Barrel/13727242
I do not have it attached to a downspout. It's out in the corner of my yard in an area that was hard to reach with the hose.
In the winter, I just turn it upside down and leave it in the same place outside.
ETA: I just realized that it is the same as that Meijer one, but is more expensive. I would factor shipping cost in when deciding which was actually cheaper because at that size depending on the method of shipping it could be a lot. But Walmart allows delivery to the store for free.
I don't have one yet, but I have my eye on this one: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202020567/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053
Its $149.00, holds 84 gallons, and has a planter on top-it looks like a big pot with a plant!
