what type of icing do i use to decorate a cake? is it something i need to make, or can i use a premade one? what would be yummy and the right consistency?

Re: **Augustbride**

  • I would make it. To me the flavor is much better.  I have a bunch of different recipes I can send you. For kids cakes I usually make a butter cream but I do have one that is not so sick sweet that most adults really like to. I have not tried to decorate with remade icing from the grocery store but I'm sure you could. It only takes an hour at most to make icing. Do you have a kitchen aid or some other standing mixer? If so do you know the size of the bowl? I have a few recipes that make tons of icing so I would make sure not to give you one of those if you don't have the bowl to make it in.

  • Typically went I decorate a doll cake I cover the whole cake the small stars that were on the top of your example with brown hair.  It might not take that long if you were going to actually ice it.
