I happened upon the show Saturday night while flipping channels trying to find something to fall asleep to. Ended up watching like 3 or 4 episodes. First, the people on the show are a little too.....extreme. I mean, they had mini-stores that were taking over their homes. And what the heck do you do with 60 bottles of hot sauce?! Second, it kinda made me want to start cutting coupons. I went grocery shopping yesterday and actually felt a little bad I didn't have any coupons.

So would I, but we don't get the Sunday paper, so we're stuck with online coupons, and most of the time I forget the ones that I do have.

Some of those extreme couponers "cheat" - they use coupons that aren't for the items they bought, but the code on there matches the code for the product or something crazy like that. In my opinion, that takes waaaaaay too much time.
I don't have any of the big name stores [Kroger, Harris Teeter etc.] around me, so I typically just shop at the Commissary and use coupons as I can. I do quite a bit of shopping at Walgreens and CVS though, and I can typically save 50-60 percent there on items I already need [razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant etc.]. When we move, I'll probably become more diligent about shopping since we'll have the big name supermarkets in Colorado Springs...but I won't hoard. That's too much.
My mother used to do couponing like crazy.
Rachel, you're right...it is kind of like hoarding in a sense. I remember my mother was OBSESSED with it...but she saved tons of money!
I will say I did sign up for the Sunday paper last week, so I am excited to start being able to save some more money. But I will not be taking it to that level. Who has the time for that!?!?!
One of the ladies said she'd spend 6 hours getting ready for each of her FOUR weekly trips! And she held a full-time job! (No kids, though.) I can't even imagine spending that much time.

I think I saw the episode where the woman had a full time job, as well as spending full time hours on couponing. I'm sorry, but I want to have a life. We use our store coupons, but I don't get the paper so I don't get manufacture's coupons. And honestly it's not worth it to buy the paper just to get them, because we typically don't buy name brand stuff anyway. We have a lot of local brands, or I buy the store brand. I'm pretty good at saving money that way, without being a crazy pasta and Gatorade hoarder!
The Sand in My Snow Boots
i've seen a few episodes. one, where the lady said she made 60K off coupons last year. from items being on sale and using coupons so she would actually get paid when she bought them. that's crazy. i do like when i see the ones that donate a lot of what they get too.
i agree, it takes too much time. and storage is an issue. i can't even use a coupon for 6 boxes of cereal bc where would i put them? stocking up for me is buying the 12 pack of tp! i also won't go dumpster diving for coupon circulars. one lady was asked where she got all of hers and she replied "God"
if I can't save money with my store card, I don't use it.
I love Wegmans - its more of a NE store - we buy mostly Wegmans brand, and we swear its just as good if not better -- plus Wegmans is keepeing all of the prices on essentials ( milk, bread, butter, eggs, coffee ( yes an essential
) at $2.99 !!
I coupon, but not that extremely! Good gracious!
I plan on becoming better at couponing, and now is a good time especially since we are both going back to school. I just can't imagine putting that many hours into it though, as well as having that much stuff. There's just no need for it.
WHAT!! That's incredible! I don't have one near me.
However, I did go to the one near my work, and I didn't realize how BIG it was going to be! I didn't even have time to walk through the entire store on my lunch break!
