We're leaving for vacation tomorrow morning and I'm super stressed right now... last night, we noticed Dewey's eye was flaring up so we started him on eye drops. My friend who usually is able to swing by and help if need be, is away herself and my neighbor who has our spare key is allergic to cats. I emailed another neighbor to see if he can help with the drops and let me know if it gets worse (then I'll have to find someone to take him to the vet or pick up some prednisone for him). If my neighbor can't do the drops, we'll have to board him but it's just an unexpected expense we weren't planning on. There is a definite solution there but not one I wanted-- I swear this cat has the best timing.
I also found out this morning (via facebook), that my mom's uncle died this morning (he was on hospice and struggled with COPD for a long time). My parents are in France having a vacation of a lifetime (seriously, only vacation they've taken themselves since I've been born) and I had to email my mom to tell her. I would have gone to the funeral but since we're leaving, I can't... and they won't get home for it. My mom emailed me back right now and I can't stop crying for her-- she's so upset since they won't be able to get back in time. There is no right time for something like this but I hate not being their for family.
ETA: just got word that there are no plans for a funeral.
Re: ugh- i hate unplanned things
First of all, I am so sorry for your family's loss.
Second of all, how far away from me are you and how often do the drops need to be administered? Depending upon the schedule, I may be able to help out.
That is so sweet of you but I'm super far from you to do that!
So sorry for your family's loss.
Sounds like a very stressful time to get ready to relax on vacation.
I hope everything works out.
