monday (not so) funday

morning ladies.  glad to see we all survived the rapture :)

another rainy and wet week here in new england.  lord have mercy, i need some vitamin d!  went and saw bridesmaids this weekend, it was fun. also saw the new fast five.  not so fun (actually, worst movie ever made).  boring weekend around the house, it was just what the doctor ordered.

aaaand that is about it.  looking forward to the three day weekend this coming weekend!  just have a hell of a week to get there!

Re: monday (not so) funday

  • Raaaaaaaaaaaaaptuuuuurrrrrrrrrre. I laughed my keister off at the Yahoo headline this morning: Coping With Doomsdays That Don't Happen

Why the f is it gray and rainy every freaking day? Why why WHYYYYYYYYYYY. My perennials are OUT of control. They are enormous and now have to be split and I have no idea what to do with them. So much rain gives giant out of control flowers.

I had a lovely girls weekend in Beantown with two of my BFFs. Wine and Italian ordered in on Friday, pedis and brunch on Saturday followed by a balls out 1 pm - 11 pm day into night drinking tour. Food, drinks, bar hopping, horserace betting, dancing, tomfoolery, and the best pork fried rice I have ever eaten in my life. Sunday L and I were up and out by 6:45 a.m.

Yesterday I went food shopping on the way home. That is why I don't go shopping without a list. I forgot 7 things that I am completely out of. Grrrrr. Back to the store again sometime this week.

Then I laid around all day watching TV and napping. Then MFD got home and he napped. We both fell asleep on our NEW couches - when you take the back cushion off it is like laying on a super spacious dreamy nap bed.

I got up at 6:30 this morning, threw my quilt in the wash, let the dogs out and fed them, packed my lunch, loaded the dishwasher, packed my gym bag, then freaked out because I couldn't find my work keys and train pass. Monday, I'm shaking my fist at you.

  • stephanie, sounds like you had a great weekend in our fair city!  glad you had fun, despite the weather.  and glad your new couches are nap approved!  did you post pictures of them yet?
  • I have not. I need to get my living room a little more together, I will probably post some photos this weekend!
    image
  • Yes, we need pics of those couches miss stephanie!!  Unless there are some on facebook and I just suck at keeping up....

Weekend was eh.  Friday J has class, so went home, heated up some dinner, crawled in bed and I believe I was sleep by 8:30.

Saturday got up and did some stuff around the house and went grocery shopping.  Felt like complete poo, so did not go out for b-day celebration.  Which I was ok with anyway b/c my "friends" pi$$ed me off.  I stayed in bed, when I was up blowing my nose or having the feeling like I was going to puke all over, so I told J it was ok, if he went to a friends house.  BUT I made him stay home until at least 6 incase the rapture came.  Told him he would feel pretty guilty if he was across town seeing fire balls coming from the sky and zombies in the streets and I was all by myself.  :-)

Yesterday we took our furbaby, Timber, swimming.  SOOOOOO proud of him!  He loves swimming but we could NEVER get him to jump off the pier to get his water toys (would always run back down the pier and edge himself into the water from the shore).  This time, we didn't even have to throw a toy in and he just ran and jumped right in.  He's so stinking cute sometimes I just want to squeeze the crap out of him.

Today, I'm sneezing uncontrollably which is completely obnixious.  My goal is to not need a nap by 1pm, and to actually be productive at work.

  • Agreed, Monday is not so funday. No work today, but for some reason it's bright and sunshiney out instead of thunderstorming like was forecasted (I thought) so I might actually get my garden finished/planted or the lawn mowed again. Then, I have to go to town to look into a car loan. Long story short, my car (a 2000 Buick) is really getting worse for wear, and it isn't gonna be good for when we start a family, so we've sorta been looking at used SUVs. A friend is selling a very clean 98 Mountaineer that's actually in my budget. Big step for me, it'll be the first thing besides college that I've financed. So the weekend was mostly based around me working, grocery shopping, test driving the Mountaineer and watching hubby trying to get his older yamaha motorcycle on the road. That's about it. :)

  • Ugh. Monday. More rain this morning and traffic was inexplicably horrible so I was 20 minutes late for work, which I will need to stay and make up tonight. NOT COOL.

The weekend was nice, though, but exhausting. Saturday I went to bring my car in for it's 30,000 mile tune up, H mowed the lawn and did some work outside, and I picked up a bit around the house. Later on I picked up my car, cooked a yummy fish dinner, then H and I went out to the movies to see Thor and Bridesmaids. Both were better than I expected them to be, and funny! The only bad thing is we were supposed to switch over from Comcast to Verizon and get FIOS. The technicion showed up, looked at the wiring and connections leading into the house from the utilty pole outside, and informed us that since all of our current wiring and cables are buried and running under our driveway, he wouldn't be able to splice a new connection and we would need a new cable running to the house. Our options would be to either (1) have a wire going through the trees that was not buried or (2) dig up our driveway to run the new cable underground. We decided not to do it. We know that the house we're in will not be the house we stay in forever, raise children, etc, so it's not worth the effort. So, I guess we're stuck with Comcast until we move in a couple years.

Sunday I cooked a nice breakfast of pancakes, did three loads of laundry, then H and I went to my parent's house for a family cook out / belated birthday get-together for me. Saturday was definitely the nicer of the two days, weather-wise, but we still cooked on the grill on Sunday and didn't get completely washed out. The sun kept trying to peek through. I got to visit with my adorable two-year old cousin which was awesome. My grandpa declared in front of H and my parents that he expects great grandchildren soon and just hopes he'll be around to see them (he's 88). I laughed it off but told him I was pretty sure it was up to H and I. Later my mom suggested that H and I take my little cousin outside to play so we can "practice." Seriously, guys? There is nothing in the world I would like more than to have a baby right now and it's not easy waiting but looking back once the baby comes I know H and I will be happy we had this time together. They are not making it any easier asking and nagging and keepig it on my mind. H and I are planning to start trying late next year but there is no way I am telling any of them that! I swear my mom would start tracking my cycles for me.

  • On Friday, late afternoon, my boss told me I should tell an editor I'd be available that night by phone if he needed help.  Then, less than 2 minutes later, asked if I had special plans for my birthday.  That was the icing on my craptastic day.  It was so bad, I didn't want to go to dinner when we got home.  DH pushed until I caved and we had a really great dinner.  He got me the KA ice cream attachment for my birthday!

Saturday we had lunch with friends, and then went to a 2 yr old's birthday party.  It was kind of awful - they kept us waiting over 2 hours for food.  I told DH we are not going to a kid's birthday party unless it's either a first birthday, or we have kids.

And yesterday I dropped DH at the airport and then went shopping with my sister.  Poor DH got stuck in Chicago last night and had to get up super early this morning to make his new connection.  I do NOT like being in the house alone.  I also attempted to finish the cookies for my friend's shower, but they turned out *really* poor.  I'm going to attempt to remake them over the next few nights.

This morning, I walked in the doors to my office and almost started crying (because I don't want to be here).  I've spent the last 90 minutes on the verge of tears because I'm so miserable/frustrated/stressed.   This day promises to be craptastic.  And I wish I wasn't feeling so emotionally fragile (or at least knew why I felt this way).

  • Had a pretty good weekend. Tons of flooding around here. The Inlaws received 7 inches of rain from last Tuesday until Sunday. There is only 1 road in and out of their town now and there isn't a dry basement in the town. In 2 years we will be in a drought lol.

Saturday it was on and off rainy icky. We didn't do alot besides get raped by the tire people because H's Trailblazer needed new ones.

Yesterday we grilled steaks and spent the afternoon at my parents. It was beautiful out and I got burnt!

Im in a horrible mood today and have warned everybody that they need to keep their distance.

  • The rapture came and we're all stuck in hell...oh wait, that's just a typical day at work for me.  I'm actually kinda ashamed to admit it but I was waiting for something to happen on Sat.  Richard kept talking about "the end of the world" all week and he started freaking me out.  Friday he kept talking about it saying that there was going to be a big earthquake and the dead will come up because of the earthquake.  At that point I got pissed at him and told him to stop flipping talking about it.  Saturday came and nothing.

Since the wold was going to end I figured what the hell, might as well go shopping.  I bought myself a maxi dress, which I thought I'd never be able to pull of because I'm so short, but I love the dress.  I also got a big floppy hat for the beach.  I'm ready for summer and the beach.

Sunday we didn't do much but help my parents organize there garage which was a task since my mom is a hoarder.  We watched the Sharks lose and Pee Wee's Big Adventure.

Looking forward to Friday and having a three day weekend!

  • Thursday- Sunday was completely BIL/now SIL wedding extravaganza. We were running around town getting last minute stuff, cleaning the house, and helping out. The wedding was very nice, I was very surprised how weeverything turned out because they were working on a tight budget, but you wouldn't have even known if you didn't know behind the scence kind of stuff. Then Sunday me and H relaxed and spent lots of time together! It was so nice!

  • Shauni, I'm going to have to disagree with you.

I thought Fast Five was OMGFabulous.  I giggled through the entire thing.  Couldn't stop smiling.   Plus, they featured my beloved 911 (the powder blue Porsche) at one point so I was all in bliss.

But then again, I love the entire FnF franchise.  I'm a gear head, what can I say.

Sounds like you guys all had good weekends.   I'm going to step out on a limb though and venture to boast that I top you all in the drama department.

How do you ask?  Well Chris and I randomly ran into my ex-husband at a dockside bar.  We were literally 3 feet from the edge.  I found myself furtively glancing at the water, wondering how cold it was.  I thought for sure someone was going to go in.

    hahahah

  • Blah! Aside from taking one of our furbabies to the e-vet this morning, my weekend was good; Friday night, James and I saw the new Pirates movie and ate at Mel's Diner after. Good flick. On Saturday, I went to a volunteer meeting at a humane society here but I think it's too far to drive for once or twice per month (37 miles one way) - but I'm thinking about it. We bbq'd chicken sat and just vegged on the couch. I also hung up two small shelves from Target in our bedroom, laundry, finished cleaning. Yesterday, Allie Earp and I met up with a friend and went hiking...almost 3 hours and although it was windy, I'm glad it wasn't above 80 degrees :)

So this morning, I woke up at usual time to go into office but got really worried that one of our cats, Nacho, wasn't getting out of bed with me. He was sleeping all day yesterday, hardly ate and got up for water once or twice and this morning he had no appetite. I found an emergency vet nearby and headed there. Nacho has some viral infection, was given IV fluids to help hydrate him,  anti-inflammatory and I have to get antibiotics from a regular pharmacy today. Spent $369 for this :(. Totally love my animals and I probably could have waited until his regular vet opened but I had no idea what was wrong.

  • mole - Nope.  PMS was a week and a half ago. And I better not be pregnant!  We found out another of DH's cousins is very likely pregnant.  I'm thinking I'm already upset about DH being away for a few days that has me more on edge than usual.  But that seems like a lame reason compared to hormones.

  • It has been raining here since yesterday afternoon. It makes me want to go back to bed since I don't work until 5. At least the rain is great for my garden and everything is becoming green again.

Saturday DH and I took an impromptu overnight trip. It was great to get out of town. We did some shopping, went out for a great dinner, and walked around one of the great parks. Left early Sunday morning, after stopping at Starbucks of course, to get back and finish everything for the baby shower I was co-hosting. The shower went great and the room looked fantastic with the Martha Stewart pom poms hanging from the ceiling.

And of course we adopted a new kitten Saturday. We got him home yesterday and he is getting comfortable with his big sister today (or maybe the other way around). She really doesn't know what to make of him yet, but they were playing this morning. :)

Emilee - hope your day gets better.

Blurg, Monday again.  H had to go to the Bay Area overnight tonight; he normally just goes for the day, but needs to be there tomorrow as well.  So he was up super early, which means the puppy and I are up, too.  5:30, do not want.

I'm still dealing with freaking morning sickness, which is ticking me off.  I'm taking Zofran, which basically just means I'm still nauseated, but don't (usually!) throw up.  This can pass anytime now!

I've got so much to do this week, and feel like I'm barely hanging on at work with all the work.  Boo.

Emilee - I really hope you're able to find a new job, or able to go freelance or something.  Your boss sounds like a real nightmare!  But yay for your H!  I really wanted the KA ice cream attachment and a friend got it for us for the wedding, but H insisted that it go back, because he wants to lose weight.  Boo.

Haven't read through everyones post yet wanted to get a chance to post first. Crazy busy at work today AND my head head boss is sitting right behind me today because people who are giving our school accreditation are using hers. So she is really cutting into my nesting time ugghhh..

We survived the rapture!! My friend/boss and I kept making rapture jokes all friday afternoon.

Saturday night Greg and I watch Ben Bailey's ( Cash Cab guy) comedy show on Comedy centeral, he is wicked effin funny. We both were crying he was so funny. I highly recommend if you see it on TV to watch him.

We started to talk about baby names. Greg agreed upon the girls name I like, Brooke Kathleen (Kathleen for my mom). He HATED my favorite boys name (Noah James) and all other boys names I liked. So I thought a boy name would be the easiest and girl would be hard guess I was wrong.

  • Alicia, you crack me up.

This weekend was busy, good and a little stressful at times.  My uncle's 50th birthday party on Saturday was great, and we also had breakfast with my family on Sunday morning.  My mom and I got along pretty well, aside from her usual guilt-tripping and acting like she's the Queen or something.  We managed to chitchat a bit about her wedding and I think it will be fun, even if some of her semi-rude ideas are going to blow up in her face during the planning process.  I'm actually pretty excited about our trip out there.

Sunday we went to Volt for dinner (before that we'd only been for lunch) and it was AWESOME.  It also gave me a chance to wear the strapless champagne dress I got from Nordstrom Rack - and while we were in Starbucks, a woman came up to me and told me that it looked fabulous on me.  I thought it was so sweet, I almost cried.  Why aren't there nice people like that in Baltimore?

tell him that you guys better get compromising otherwise it's going to be Brooke Kathleen either way! Stick out tongue

Since you guys both like Brooke for a girl, what about Brooks for a boy?  I've heard that a lot actually the past year or so.

I've never actually thought of that for a boy. Thankfully we still have time and we are finding out the sex.

I do find it funny when I mentioned Brooke I could see Greg thinking about it, my guess going through the list of girls he slept with to see if there was a Brooke. lol.
