girls in matching outfits

I never thought I'd want to do this, but now I can't help but look for matching but slightly different outfits for the girls!  It's so funny how things change.  The Tea Collection is freakin' adorable!

Re: girls in matching outfits

  • I was never a fan - it's cute sometimes, but eh.

Now that I have two girls... yeah, they coordinate, a lot. It's rarely the same (or very very similar) thing - Christmas & Easter they had the same-ish dresses - but if J's wearing a purple shirt, N is probably wearing a purple outfit.

I did find, when I was a nanny (b/g twins both times), I'd dress them to coordinate. It made it easier for me to find them when we were out for activities. Like if I knew I put K in his turtle shirt, S was probably wearing green as well. C & N wore a lot of orange b/c C had an orange & lime green dress that I loved.

  • I always said I would not do that to my girls since my mother did it to my sister and I.  But guess what, they often do match.  Not exactly but close.  And my girls are 4 and a half years apart.  The funny thing is the older one asks to match her sister all the time,  I made Lauren (almost 6yo) her Easter dress first and had plans to make Megan (18 months) one in the same pattern just different fabrics.  Lauren begged for her sister to have a matching dress so they got matching Easter dresses.

  • I also said I would never do it but C really likes to match R.  So I buy coordinating outfits and some matching.  Sometimes C gets in her mood of not matching her sister though.
  • one of my cousins & i (we lived next door to each other) used to like to dress alike sometimes. i think since we were both only children, we liked people thinking we were sisters.

My sister and I were two years apart. So many people thought we were twins that we did our darnedest to NOT match whenever possible! That isn't to say that we didn't coordinate outfits for special occasions: similar style but different colors, or same colors but different styles. But, we also attended private school with uniforms, and had identical hairstyles (3-foot braids). Aside from the 6" height difference until we got to high school and my sister caught up with me, there was no telling us apart from behind if you saw one without the other :(

  • I actually love matching (or similiar) outfits on little kids!
  • My mom used to dress me and my sister similar when we were little for special occasions but for the most part we wore different things.  Part of that could be because we didn't have a lot of money growing up and my sister used to wear hand me downs.

That being said, I have a friend from HS and she dresses her two girls exactly alike almost every day.  I mean, even down to the hair things. I find it extremely annoying and boring.  I do like when kids match though for example, both wearing jeans and they are in the same shirt but in different colors or the same dress in different color.

  • Because I have only 1, I don't really care for it.  I guess maybe similar colors, but my SIL has 2 boys, 10 and 12 and she always buys them the same clothes.  LIke goes to the Gap and gets the same shirts, same jeans etc.   Drives me nuts, especially since they are older and NOT twins.

I dress all three of my girls in matching outfit most of the time.  Mostly because I do all my shopping online.  It is impossible to get to the store and shop.  Likewise, time on the computer is a commodity.  I just add 3 to my cart and am done with it.  They are easy to keep track of when we go out and they look adorable!!
