The Rain Is Driving Me Crazy!

So, we have had so much grey weather lately I am at the point where I need to imagine somewhere sunny to keep from snapping.  I feel like everyone around me has cabin fever!

So...DebDeb's post inspired me...

Where is everyone going on vacation this year?  I know people have mentioned their plans here and there but I thought we should have an official post.  I want to hear about beautiful, exotic places.  Even if you don't have a vacation planned but live somewhere warmer than Boston, you could just descibe what the sun and real spring weather feels like.  Ok, go!

Re: The Rain Is Driving Me Crazy!

  • We're being bad this year!  We're spending two weeks in Mexico in mid-July; 5 days in Cancun, 9 in Cozumel.  In August we're going on a mini-vacation to the Northwest for my mom's wedding - we'll to a day in Seattle, then two days in Portland for the wedding.  In Seattle we're planning on going to the Pike's Place Market, in Portland we may go to the zoo or something but most of the time will be spent at the 'open house' my mom and her fiance are hosting at their home, and the wedding the next day (at Multnomah Falls, it should be beautiful).  In December we're spending a week in St. Lucia.

  • Ours are just little trips. We have "Rockin the Windfarm" end of June. Over the 4th we have Toby's fam reunion. We will also be in Toby's hometown again for their fair. We are also planning on hitting Cheyenne Frontier Days for some Kid Rock and will head to Sturgis but don't know who we'll see there yet. These are all at least 4 hrs away.

We also have a couple concerts coming to town that Im pretty excited for! Stone Temple Pilots, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper, Three Days Grace/My Darkest Days.

  • I am going to start by fantasizing about my own trips lol.  This coming weekend H and I are going to Ogunquit, ME for a long weekend getaway.  We booked a hotel, are going to walk around the downtown area, shop, go out to eat, and spend an afternoon at a spa getting massages and possibly a facial for me!  I. can. not. wait.  Even if it rains it's gorgeous up there and the change of scenery will be therapeutic I think.

In September, we are going to Puerto Rico for our one-year anniversary.  We're also considering doing a vow renewal on the beach while we're there.  H's grandmother still lives there so we'll visit her too.  We are taking a chance with Hurricane Season, I know (knock on wood) but we'll be at a time share / resort, we're gonna rent a car, etc, so we'll make the best of it no matter what.

Next year, plans are already in the works for a two-week vacation to Europe in April.  It's the last thing H and I wanted to do before little ones come into the picture =)

Deb - I am jealous you're going back to Hawaii.  H and I want to go back too someday but to a different island.  Problem is I loved our honeymoon so much I have a feeling I've already been to my favorite island in the chain (Kauai'i)

So far our only vacation is going to Mass for a Baptism in July. Greg is going to be the godfather the baby is already over a year old. I want to go to Fenway while we are there so I can take pictures of my probably by than belly to show "plum" this is your first time at the awesomest ball park ever.

I'm sure for our 1 year we will just go to the Keys. For our anniversary/last trip just the 3 of us (Greg, myself, Pierce (furbaby))

  • We aren't doing much for vacations this year since we have 4 weddings of which 3 are 6+ hour drives away. After the one wedding in mid Michigan we are going to PA, then Chicago, and back home.

Hopefully we will be able to plan a big vacation next year.

This is where I want to go.  Rich wants to go to Oahu since there are more "touristy" things to do.  I want to go to Kauaii to relax and enjoy the beauty that is Kauaii.  We went to the Big Island for our HM, so we definitely want to check out a new island this time around.  I really don't have a preference as long as I can be in Hawaii with a Mai Tai!

Edit: We might go to Chicago in December.  My cousin is attending grad school in Chicago and she wants us to go visit her.  Ever since I read "These Mean Streets" in college I've had a fascination with Chicago.  I think it would be nice to see the holiday season and snow...keep in mind I'm in CA and rarely see snow.

Oahu would probably be the next island I'd want to visit, followed by Maui then the big island.  Honestly, though, I fell in love with Kauai'i and would be happy just going back there.

Also, H and I did a road trip to Chicago once and LOVED it there too!  I would live there if it wasn't so far away from our families.  It's a great, great city - we had the best time and it's def worth visiting if you can!  We went in May but I imagine it's beautiful around the holidays.

  • We don't have anything really "planned" out right now, but I am excited about a friend (who lives in TX) coming up in August and taking her and her BF to their first race at Michigan International Speedway. She just called me last week about it. EEEE. She isn't really a race person, but H and I are and her BF is really looking forward to it, so she invited us along. Fun Fun. Maybe we'll do a weekend somewhere around our anniversary, but as I said, nothing in the works officially yet.

Jealous of you girls and your beachy getaways. :)

  • hahahah @ describe what the sun looks like.

I am headed to the shore for four days the first weekend of June with my aunt and two of my besties. In July MFD and I will head down to the shore for four days with the dogs and stay with my in-laws. Maybe another shore weekend here or there.

We go to Disney in September. Three day cruise and six days in the park. MFD has never been there.
