s/o extreme couponing

I've noticed that in every episode except one so far, at least the mother is overweight, if not both parents. I think the foods they're buying are a bunch of junk/frozen foods, etc. Not a whole lot of healthy food going on. Yes, no?

*oh, and I wonder how much of their "savings" they spend on printer ink? Ink is not cheap - do you think they buy that with a coupon too? One couple said they use a clipping service for something like $60 a mo - that seems counter-productive to me.

I agree!!  Every since they suspected a woman of coupon fraud on that show, I stopped watching it.  I clip coupons every Sunday and put them all in my coupon binder, but I will never take it to the extreme.  I just want to save a few dollars here and there.

  • That's one of my biggest issues with that show, they all have stock piles of food that will out last a nuclear war.  I don't think feeding a family on nothing but preprocessed food is good for them.

I try to use as little as possible of the preprocessed foods, but I will admit I like Ricearoni now and again Embarrassed

I freaking love Ricearoni. I mean seriously. I could eat an entire box by myself.

  • I agree! We try to eat as fresh as possible and really limit our boxed foods. You can't find coupons for fresh fruits, veggies, and meats. You just have to catch sales when you can. I do use coupons when I can for toothpaste, cleaning products, etc. IMO, I would not eat crap food just because I can get it for free. I did see an episode where the couple bought like 100 frozen dinners. That must be what they eat. Talk about high cholesterol!!!

No judging here! We get those pasta sides for a quick side dish, and I really love the "suddenly salad" that makes a cold pasta salad. But I don't think any of us are buying 100 at a time and feeding our family this for weeks on end. That's my big issue with their shopping. Just the soda alone! Almost every family buys tons of soda on the show, and that's just not something we buy. It's a special treat if we do!
