Rumors...

So we are planning on TTC sometime around October. Two weeks ago I called our HR to ask about maternity leave and all. I told her my time frame but I was just getting everything in order.

Well last week she told everyone at our home office that I was pregnant. She even argued with my boss telling him I was pregnant. So yesterday he asked me. I told him he would be the first to know at work if I was.

So now I have all these people calling to congratulate me.

Re: Rumors...

  • Oh my! I'm surprised she said anything because I would think she would get in trouble for mentioning anything that you talked to her about.

My boss went and told people, even after I told her we are only telling a few. She went and told our boss. She is on a need to know basic right now.

I think I would talk with her about this because she doesn't need to be telling anyone your business, especially the HR lady who is suppose to keep things confidential.

Um, wow.  She has nerve to do that!  She's supposed to keep stuff like that confidential, she is HR afterall.  I would complain to your boss that something like that shouldnt be happening.

Wow!  Talk about unprofessional and inconsiderate!

I would definitely say something to your boss about her.  I'm guessing she didn't mean to cause any trouble, but it is NOT appropriate for an HR person to say a word to anyone about things said to her in confidence.  If you actually were pregnant, it's up to you to tell your boss, not her.
