Totally butting in here, but I don't know that I would do the melting pot when pregnant. You have to be careful about certain cheeses, because if they're unpasteurized it could make you really sick. Plus the fact that you have to cook your own food in oil raises your chance of food poisoning. I just thought I would point that out if you haven't been.
On a side note, the chocolate fondue is incredible. We get milk chocolate with marshmallows and oreos mixed in. So good.
Re: Allison
I'm really not that concerned about it. Soft cheeses can be eaten if they are heated and since all the cheese fondue is really hot, I think it's fine. I'm not really worried about the food poisoning either as I would make sure to leave the meat in long enough to ensure it's cooked all the way.
I've eaten there before but it's been a long time. I just remember how good it was and I've always wanted to take H.
Ah, reading comprehension FAIL. Have a good time!
To answer your question in the other thread - the $29.99 deal is OK. Of course it depends on what you'd order if you went without the discount to compare. They run it as a special from time-to-time and it usually has day/time constraints. For instance, we can't use it today because the current promo says the order must be placed by 5:30pm or use any other coupons.
Most of the time lately (today being an exception), I skip the cheese and the chocolate (yeah yeah, crazy!) and just have the meat and enjoy a nice night out w/ DH. I prefer the bouillon or mojo cooking style, where you boil it. I have never cared for the oil. I like my food well-done, so for me it's better to boil so I don't have to worry about burning it.
The coupon we have only dictates that it can't be used on Saturday night or for the Big Night Out menu. . . .other than that any time/day is ok.
I just can't decide if I could really eat cheese, meat, and dessert! I really want to go though!
The meat portion on the special isn't very big. Plus, I think the salad course is skipped on those.
For comparison's sake though - tonight we had cheese, the signature entree (same as the special entree I believe) shared, and it came with 1 salad (went to DH), and chocolate. That plus sodas came to $61. I'm not sure if the special gives a larger portion of the entree or not, but we've found the shared single entree to be just right when you're having the cheese & chocolate too.
Jealous! That place is yummy. Recently, a couple we are friends with asked us to go with them and DH was like "What ?The Melting Pot, but it's not a special occasion!" Husband Fail. But in his defense, the other couple had a Groupon and we didn't. Also DH is sort of a vegetarian now so it would have been a waste of money for him I suppose...
