We are coming to the cities Saturday night (For my 30th bday celebration!) and had planned on going to the Twins game on Sunday, but with the foresast of rain, not sure I want to sit at the game in the rain. What are some things we could do instead? We have done the MOA and Science Museum, and DH is not a shopping person.
We are staying at the Crowne Plaza Northstar - any reviews from here?
Also, I got a gift certificate to restaurant.com and would really like to use it for supper Saturday night. In looking at places within walking distance from the hotel I have found The Imperial Room, The Ugly Mug & Roc Bar, and The Elixir. Anyone have reviews on these? (I say walking distance becaue I'd rather get to the hotel Saturday night and stay parked. Sunday once we leave the hotel to do something other than the game we'd not come back.) Another choice if we would go to the game would be Darby O'Ragen's for lunch before the game.
Thanks in advance for your ideas! I am afraid that if it rains and I don't find something to do we'll just end up driving home and this is supposed to be my fun celebration day!
Re: Rainy day things to do in the cities?
Walker Art Museum
Minneapolis Institute of Art
American Swedish Institute
State Capitol
Minnesota History Center
James J. Hill House
Como Park and Conservatory
Wabasha Street Caves
Guthrie Theater (building is open to the public so you can just wander around the building)
Landmark Center (building is open to the public so you can just wander around the building)
The Gangster Tour is a good idea. You take a coach bus around St. Paul to see the old gangster haunts. It's fun, in a dorky kind of way.
I would honestly skip all of those places that you mentioned for dinner. They're not really "dinner" places. They're more like after-work happy hour places that transition into dance clubs at night. On the weekends there will probably be a cover charge.
Better (relatively inexpensive) dinner options would be Hell's Kitchen, Kieran's, Barrio, Brit's, Rock Bottom, Pizza Luce... You could even do Hard Rock Cafe if you needed to. If you want to go a little more upscale, you could try Saffron, Capital Grille, Cosmos...
