I left my job of 2 years in January because the environment was getting out of control with gossip, threats, etc. At the time my phone was practically ringing off the hook with responses to my resume submissions. Anyway, I took a job in the same field/same pay but I feel like it was misrepresented to me in several ways and it's doing a great disservice to my skills and resume.
I was told that I would be taking on a lot of the technology revamping, using Sharepoint, web stuff etc. but they decided I'm basically going to just be the receptionist now answering phones, filing, and handling the calendar. I am so bored I can't stand it, so I've been looking and found a few jobs that I was very interested in but nobody is calling me now, presumably because I've only been here a few months.
There's also a major issue because they're planning to move offices in a few months and I would no longer be able to carpool with my DH and they're not going to be offering parking there either so it would be a miserable commute that I'm not willing to put up with every day, especially in the winter dealing with the bus.
How can I handle this?
Re: Feel like I made a mistake...
Look for another job.
Sorry you got short changed. It happens.
I wouldn't hurt to call back some of the companies that contacted you and ask if they still need somebody in the capacity you were seeking. Maybe you'll luck out.
What field are you in?
Agreed. Look for another job.
Maybe look for something else. good luck
