Solution: white residue on dishes
I posted a few weeks back about how annoyed I was that my dishes all had a white residue after being washed. Many of you explained the phosphates being removed from my dish detergent.
So I eventually hand washed everything soaking in soapy warm water with some vinegar before I tried using the dishwasher again. For extra measure I did clean the dishwasher AGAIN (although I don't believe that was the cause).
From here on out, I just toss in some vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher when I start the load. The dishes have consistently come out clean! Amen!!!
I've been using vinegar for quite a bit and I'm glad to see it's a cheap solution to this big problem of mine.
Re: Solution: white residue on dishes
Glad it worked! I think the acidity of the vinegar just cuts through hard water stains.
I figure if it works on my coffee maker I can use it on other dishes too. It works great.
