Weekly Book Post!

Sorry I've been MIA with this one lately...being home in PA for 2 weeks didn't leave me much time to post on here! But I'm back :)

So anyway...I just finished Something Borrowed which was AWESOME! I can't wait to start Something Blue...which I'll do after I finish Water For Elephants this week :)

Re: Weekly Book Post!

  • I'm still reading Handle with Care - it's a pretty long book so it will take me a while to read. It's super good and I'm totally into it.

Actually DH and I went to Best Buy last week to look a ereaders. I decided on the Kindle with Special Offers cause it's the cheaper of the Kindles. He was going to get it for my bday this weekend but I told him not to...save the money and maybe get it for me as an anniv gift. We're already spending a bunch of money this week between going away this weekend and the deposit on the apartment. But, I'm excited that I'll be getting one sometime in the near future!

  • Welcome back!!

I just finished reading Vision in White by Nora Roberts. It's the first in her Bride Quartet. I picked it up because I'd heard good things about her books....alot of people I know have read at least a few of hers. It's the first book by her I've read, and have the second one coming at the library. It was a quick, easy read, and was really enjoyable. I think I'll be reading quite a few of her books.

I'm also reading Steven Tyler's book "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?" I'm a few chapters in. It's good, but since its non-fiction, it takes me a little longer to get through. Plus, it kind of reads like he speaks (really random and sporadic.) Now that I'm into it, I'm used to it, but I can only read a little at a time.

I've been hinting at DH for a kindle for our anniversary. I asked for Christmas but didn't get it!

  • I'm still reading Uncle Tom's Cabin.  I'm having a hard time with the dialect, takes me a little longer to read.

I really have a hard time believing this used to be the way people thought.  I always knew this was the history, but it is so hard to read sometimes.

    Fourth Anniversary

I bought my niece a nook- since you can get library books with those...  and she loves it. I myself will be in the dark ages for a while :)

We started our vacation Friday... and I have read a ton b/c of all the driving we have done.   I read the Hunger Games & Catching Fire (book 2) and part of book 3 (when DH was off playing music, I went to a bookstore and read!!),  and am listening to Heart of the Matter (half way through, will listen to the other half on the way back home).  I just finished Lauren Weisberger's Last Night at Chateau Marmont and think I will begin Kill the Irishman this afternoon!

  • I love vacation reading. I'm hoping to do quite a bit this summer! Since I'm starting a new job in August, I need to get all the must reads on my to be read list read this summer. I'm thinking a few days away would help...

  • I got to re-read Water for Elephants during my week off, now I'm back to summer classes so required reading. You girls certainly have me making a long list for my summer and pre-baby fall reading!!

  • Last week I read Unbroken, which is a non-fiction book about a WWII soldier and his experiences. I'm not usually a fan of non-fiction, but this book was AMAZING. Heartbreaking, but amazing.

I'm currently re-reading Water for Elephants. I wanted to refresh my memory of the story before I see the movie.

I have read a ton of Nora Roberts' books - love her! Her trilogies are usually pretty great. I actually wasn't a big fan of the Bride Quartet, I thought the books were kind of slow compared to her usual stories. She writes perfect vacation/beach novels!

  • Kelly, I loved Unbroken and her other book, Seabiscuit is just as good.

I just finished the Big Stone Gap series last week. I read another called Night Road during my trip to CA and although the first 3/4 of it was awesome, the end of the book was horrible. The author was basically rushing to finish. GRRR..I hate when they do that!

Right now I am reading Cutting for Stone. I am only about 30 pages in, but so far so good.

  • I cannot wait to read Unbroken.  I am waiting for it to get in at the library.

I am reading Water For Elephants.  I am really enjoying it.

I am also reading some books about teaching for work and for a course that starts next month.  I need the one book finished by the first day of class.

Next up is a book called The Rembrandt Affair.  It is a murder mystery.  I think it is the 10th in the series.  I just downloaded it from the library tonight.

  • I just finished reading A Secret Affair by Mary Balogh.  I usually don't read romance novels, but I thought I would try out something new hoping that it wasn't too trashy but omg I loved it!! It started out really scandalous  and then turned into this heart melting love story towards the end. I even found myself tearing up near the end of it haha. It definitely surprised me!!

Now I'm starting on Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simonson.  It got good ratings on goodreads.com so I'm hoping that I like it! :)

  • I am reading Cursed by Carol Higgins Clark.  I haven't got much reading done lately.
  • I am stalled on The Piano Teacher.  I have been running non-stop for the past five days.  This is the first chance I've even had to Nest since Saturday.

I did really like The Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts.  They were slightly predictable, but fun, easy reads.  I also liked The MacGregor Grooms.  I've only read one other book of hers, the name of which escapes me right now, but it was a great one.  There's an archeological dig, a murder, a mystery, some romance.

  • I noticed a bunch of Nora Roberts fans.  If you liked the Bride books, also try the Dream triology and the Chesapeake Bay series which starts with Sea Swept.  They are fun reads!

  • I am currently reading Eat Love Pray. I am not much of a reader and it takes me a little while to read a whole book lol. But I have been wanting to read more so I think I am going to start getting into it.
