S/o natural disasters

Do your houses have basements? Thats always where they advise us to go when there is an extreme weather situation around here. (PA)

Re: S/o natural disasters

  • Nope, not in FL. I'll be hiding in our staircase praying if a tornado decides to come our way. Thankfully, we get plenty of notice to get out of dodge if a hurricane is coming though!

  • Not out here.  Of course, there aren't really any natural disasters that would occur here where you would be safer underground.
  • Nope-we live in a bi-level though, so the bottom half is sorta underground.

  • We do, but it is unfinished and there are three windows so I wonder how safe it actually would be if a tornado hit. I'm sure it's better than our upstairs. I hope we never find out Sad

  • Yes, most houses in MA (maybe NE?) have basements.

Right now it's J's man town (bar/pool room/brewing place)...but will also eventually split into play room for baby A...

  • Not in Texas.  Our dirt is often more like clay which makes it hard to dig far enough to build a basement and is very costly.  We just hide in the inner most part of the house which is usually a bathroom.

    PCOS and Endo

Ovarian drilling and endo removed 1/3/12
    BFP - 3/27/12
    Beta's 11, 14, 57, 637, 2800
Sono showed no baby and teeny tiny sac. Waiting to M/C naturally.

  • Yes, and it's a very scary place with spiders. I have to shower down there. I will only be retreating to the basement if I can actually see a tornado bearing down on me.

  • Yeah, it's unfinished but that's where the laundry chute ends... w/d, work bench, soap and candle supplies and storage, and the sauna. Basements are common in NJ... and thankfully natural disasters are NOT.
  • We have a basement, but unforunately someone lives in it, so i guess I'm stuck in between a door way or in the tub if something happens.

That's where the monster lives, right?

  • Yes, its unfinished and is where the w/d resides. Luckily, natural disasters aren't common on this part of town.
