Rhododendron- Percy Wiseman
We're planning on planting a percy wiseman in a (larger) container. Any tips on keeping this soil "well drained"? Should we mix potting soil with sand/gravel? Do we put something inside the container so the roots are protected from the cold in the winter or can we just move the container to a more sheltered location immediately next to the house as it gets colder?

Re: Rhododendron- Percy Wiseman
I like ProMix for container plants. You should use a "hardy" pot, generally those are very thick-walled (abt. 2") glazed, fired, clay. Get a big one, having more soil around the roots will insulate them. They are usually very heavy and quite attractive. I put mine on casters so I can roll them around my deck or patio easily.
I leave my potted Rhodos outside in the winter. What zone are you in?
I'm in zone 8.
As the plant grows, we can just replant in a larger pot right?
