what shoes with this dress? (lots of PIP)
I'm going to a wedding over July 4th weekend. It will be outside on the Eastern Shore at a big old manor house-type place. I've got my dress picked out (major J. Crew sale, woohoo!):

Although I might go with the lavender instead . . . I ordered both and we'll see how they look.
So, shoes? The only ones I have right now that could work kind of look like this:

But I'm worried that will look a little too prom-y. So I was thinking of these (which I could actually wear with other things):

Too clunky? Too casual? What do you think? Any other shoe ideas? Thoughts on the dress color?

Re: what shoes with this dress? (lots of PIP)
i am trying to find a similar happy medium with shoes for wedding attire too. it's not easy! i think i'd go with #1 over #2, the second pair definitely seem a little too casual for that dress. i think you could go with a wedge or espadrille if it were more sleek. great dress!
I do not like the first ones, very prom like and plus if you are doing a lot of walking or be near the beach, might not be a good idea.
I do like these ( from DSW - they come in black/white/tan )

or these are nice, a sandal with a substantial heel ( also from DSW, come in black, natural and dark yellow )

these are expensive but they'd be really versatile:

Baby248 - ETA 1/10/13
Oooh. I vote these!
Or, something like this:

What about something like this:

though I probably wouldn't do black patent leather. I do have a pair of black patent leather, small open toe pumps, that I find very versatile. I don't recall who they are made by though. I don't wear heels nearly enough to pay attention to that stuff.
I like these too! Good find!
I don't think I like the brown w/ the blue, of the 2, I'd go with the 1st pair
Oooh, this is fun! What about these?: http://www.dsw.com/shoe/tahari+kelly+wedge+sandal?prodId=220755&productRef=SEARCH
(sorry, couldn't find a good image)

is the dress cotton or chiffon? I can't tell from the picture...
either way, it's really pretty--love it! but I like the blue/aqua better than lavender. because the material is light and feminine, personally, I would stay away from anything too clunky, chunky. I definitely don't think that the second shoe is the way to go.
I like these:
1) (in gold) http://www.ninewest.com/Kailee/6698154,default,pd.html?cgid=5241466&itemNum=10&variantSizeClass=&variantColor=YELLOPA
2) http://www.dsw.com/shoe/joan+.and.+david+2+inside+sandal?prodId=220918&category=dsw12cat750002
3) (in snake) http://www.dsw.com/shoe/kelly+.and.+katie+queso+sandal?prodId=202321&category=dsw12cat750002
4) http://www.dsw.com/shoe/nine+west+stunner+sandal?prodId=228148&category=dsw12cat750002
Of those, I like #4 the best :-)
I'd go with strappy brown or patent leather. I don't like the first shoe you had and I don't think the second one is dressy enough.
My wedding dress was a lot like that dress. It was silk and a little more green. I wore a pair of open toe sling back Bruno Magli pumps that were a cross between a darker brown and burgundy. (it sounds weird, but it worked with the dress. I'm not sure if I have a picture that shoes my shoes)
If you do a wedge (which might be a good idea if you'll be outside), I would probably dress it up a bit with some subtle metallic too, like this. I like the idea of the second one you posted, but the brown leather is too casual, imo.
I also like most of what bh2720 posted. You could always bring a pair of flat sandals in case your heels start sinking.
I just bought these in the snakeskin and they are awesome:
