Anyone find deals for our local area?

I'm always searching for ways to do a mini trip for cheap, or go eat at a discounted rate.  I know of restaurant.com but I was wondering if anyone knew of sources to get discounts on day trips, hotels, casinos, etc.

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Anyone find deals for our local area?

  • phillyhalfoff.com, groupon.com, livingsocial.com, buywithme.com.

I signed up for updates/alerts from these sites - some are South Jersey, some are Philly - and get emails all the time.

There's also dining deals through NJ101.5 that are updated every week.

Also if you are a Bank of America customer, you can get free museum admission 1 weekend a month by showing your credit or debit card. A lot of the Philly museums are in there.

Groupon, Living Social and Buy with Me have huge networks. If you are traveling to Washington DC for instance, you may want to look at their Groupons, etc.

Living Social has Living Social Escapes where you can purchase overnights at B&Bs and the like.

I look for local businesses on Facebook. I also subscribe to NJ Monthly magazine (got a year's subscription for $9 through Groupon), which lists a lot of events. They also have a website where the same info can be found.

If you are into outdoorsy things like canoeing or kayaking, check out JerseyPaddler.com. They're a store in Brick but hold outings basically every weekend and you can rent gear from them. All the info is on their website.

  • Wow.  Thank you for so much information.  I'm on Groupon but so much of it is Philly that I get annoyed lol

I'm going to check out the others.  Thanks again!

  • Now through Friday is Restaurant Week.  You can google South Jersey Hot Chefs for a list of all the participating restaurants.

  • This is great.  Thank you all for posting.  I forgot about restuarant week, so thank you for the reminder.
  • I get the South Jersey Edition of the Entertainment Book every year.  It ends up paying for itself after only a few coupons!
  • I've gotten the entertainment book as a gift before, but how do you get it on your own?
  • Click here for 2011 Entertainment book orders.  Right now they're $15 and FREE shipping and handling.
  • opentable.com sends out some good deals.  I will say, you will get a lot of Philadelphia offers, but there are occasionally some good ones for NJ.  I think the last one I received was in Cherry Hill... though I can't remember the name of the restaurant.
