Dance Lesson 1: Success!

I mentioned to you all that Mike got us tickets to 5 dance lessons for cheap and that we had to choose what dance to learn, etc.

Well last night was our very first class and it was awesome!!  We have this cute, bubbly girl that's probably 23-24 years old, she was super laid back.  She made it fun because she wasn't a dance nazi and kept us laughing and never made either of us feel silly.

We had the salsa first, which was hard for us to get but once we got moving to music we were awesome at it.  Next we had merenge which apparently that's the "normal" dance that he and I do when fast-dancing lol  Last, we had the hustle which was hysterical.

We are actually really good together and both of us are way more coordinated than we gave ourselves credit for.

Our next session is Friday and I can't wait!!  Oh, and we were sweating and both of our thighs already hurt today lol

This is awesome!  I am so glad you both enjoyed it and really had fun with it.  I think taking any kind of classes as a couple is a really neat thing to do together.

  • How fun!!  Chavis and I took private dance lessons for about 6 weeks before the wedding and enjoyed it so much.  If our schedules ever allow for it again, I'd love to get back to it.  Glad you enjoyed it!  You have to be able to laugh at yourselves with these things :)

Me too!  She said she would show us the basics in a few weeks just so I can get it our of my system lol

  • Aw, how fun!!!  I wish I had some sort of rhythm so that we could do something like this!

Is it just you guys, or is it a full class?

It's just us for 3 30-minute sessions, then we have 1 group lesson then we have a "dance party" with a ton of people lol

It is so much fun.. I swear we are literally going to watch Dirty Dancing before we go on Friday!  She was framing out our personal "dance space" and she got behind me and was moving my hips and twirling me.  No joke, I felt a little "Baby-ish" lol

  • So fun!  That's really cool that you get to do it by yourselves instead of in a big class.  I've not ever done one before, so my experience is limited to what I've seen on television/movies, and they're always in a class.

Oh...and nobody puts Baby in a corner.

Same here.  It's just like DD, for real.  It's a wide open room with a wall of mirrors and we have to keep eye contact and she counts out 5-6-7-8 and we have to count out 1-2-3, 1-2-3 or whatever the steps are.  It's hysterical.

I'm so thankful that Mike wanted to do this and we can actually have a great time and take it lightly.  I was a little concerned because he's competitive that he may end up getting frustrated with me, or with himself.  But we were both laughing and had such a good time.

I'd 100% recommend this to any couple.  Oh!  And we don't have to choose just one dance to learn (obviously by my OP) so we can learn a ton of "basic steps" and once we learn to dance together we should be able to dance any dance!

  • JEALOUS!!!

My parents took lessons a few summers ago, they had been going through counseling and I think their counselor may have suggested it. I would love to do it but I don't know if I could get Lance to agree. Who am I fooling, he does whatever I ask, so maybe he would do it. He has absolutely no rythm so it would be hilarious!
