Can anyone ID this groundcover??
DH and I want to put a path in from our garage to the gate. We are getting some free flagstone from a friend, so now I'm looking for inspiration ideas.
I found this photo and I looooooooooove it.
(full size here)
Any idea what the ground cover with the purple flowers is?
Re: Can anyone ID this groundcover??
Looks like creeping thyme. There are a few different varieties with different colors of flowers and smells (lemon for example). They work well between flagstones in areas with full sun. Areas with more shade you could use Irish moss which is more dense and has white flowers in the spring.
This year Menard's is carrying Steppables so they have a large variety of low spreading ground covers in all different shapes and sizes including thyme.
Looks like woolly thyme.
ETA: if you live in a mild climate, corsican mint looks similar but is evergreen.
"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab
Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
That's what I was thinking but wasn't 100% sure. I have it in another bed and I love it.
I will have to scope out Menards.
