How much booze?

My sister's bridal shower is coming up in less than 2 weeks, and I have no idea how much booze to buy. There will be about 35 women, half of whom are young (20s), the other half are an older crowd. The shower is at 1pm on a Saturday.

We're going to do wine (red & white), beer and a signature cocktail. How much wine and beer would you suggest? Ballpark is fine, I just need an idea to get started.

Help!

I used one of these for our rehersal dinner.  Then I multipled by our Guest Drunkedness Factor, x=infinite.

    The answer was "lots".

  • Not knowing how boozy this crowd is, my first instinct is 2-3 cases of light beer and oh about 6 bottles of wine (4 white, 2 red).  I put white higher than red because most likely it will be warm so people tend to like chilled beverages on warmer days, duh.

Plus what isn't consumed, you'd get to keep right?

  • I just had my friends shower last month and if I remember correctly we went through two bottles of red, one bottle of white and three of sparking wine (mixed with OJ for mimosas). We also offered water and iced tea (but no beer). There were about 20 women in attendance. Since it is at 1:00 and most people drive themselves, people tend to keep themselves in check.

  • We had the baby's baptism last weekend. We bought 6 large bottles of wine, 3 cases of beer, a case each of regular and diet soda, and water.

We ended up with too much of everything.

I'd prob say 2 1.5 bottles of white, 2 of red, and a case of beer.

  • Thanks ladies, this is helpful! Whatever we don't drink won't go bad, so I'd rather err on the side of getting more, but this is a good starting point.
