There were a bunch of very small tornadoes that hit around Kansas City, but not anything big like Joplin!
We are under a tornado watch until 6pm. Ugh! I am ready for it to be over, but thank God the sirens are gone. It is very sad that even though I have grown up in Kansas most my life, whenever I hear the siren, I want to go outside and check what's going on. Not until my hubby was like "get your butt in the basement" did I go, pretty sad... But I was pretty freaked out not knowing what was going on and hearing lightening and thunder. I think I would rather be outside, because I would rather see what's going on to know if it is coming, if that makes sense..
In retrospect, I wonder if people in Joplin or Oklahoma City - went to check on what's going on outside instead of going straight to the basement. I guess growing up around Kansas, that's what everyone does....Sadly,it is probably the worst thing we can do. The devestation those poor people have had is very terrible!
As much as mother nature can be a destructive and deadly, it also can be very beautiful.
Here are some pics from the past few hours, I thought I would share....This is all within minutes of my house...
