Need and idea for a unique bridal shower gift
My sister is getting married and I am unable to make the trip for her shower, as I am expecting in 4 weeks. I live in OH and she lives in IA. I really want to send something special or do something special for her shower since I can't be there in person.
Any ideas?
Re: Need and idea for a unique bridal shower gift
It doesn't have to cost a fortune.
I still like the idea of a home shower or a bbq for a shower idea -- borrow an aunt's house or have it at your place.
FET - transferred two embryos (boy and girl) - Nov 2014 - BFP!
Isn't she just looking for a gift because she can't come to the shower?
One gift that I liked was a little "survival kit for the big day" makeup bag filled with tissues, bandaides for my wedding shoes, clothes pins incase of a rip, tums... and each had a little note explaining what they were for in relation to the wedding day.
a gift card for a massage or mani pedi is always awesome, something for the bride to use to relax in the middle of all the crazy planning.
I recently got this for a very close friend and they loved it

and for another friend I had ordered this and had it engraved with their names/wedding date if maybe your sister hasnt ordered these things already

I'd just get her something really nice off her registry. I'm not a big fan of going off-registry unless you know it's something she will really like.
My top three ides:
1) Send Flowers
2) Buy a nice gift from the registry
3) Buy a gift closely related to the registry items. For example, I registered for Fiestaware dishes... Someone bought me a matching Fiestaware vase.
TTC #1 since 08/11 IUI#2 = BFP!
my sister had a quilt made for me with me and my hubby's pictures on it as babies and us dating. Not sure where she got it from thought.
Also another idea, how about one of those family established signs? I get them for gifts alot now, look on Etsy.
Also for my sister I did a wine basket with little notes attached to each bottle for 'life events'...like wedding night, first snow fall, first fight...things that happen throughout the year. It was super cute!! I found the notes online and just changed them around a bit to customize to my sis and her hubby. if i find it i'll post it for ya, but just google the idea too i'm sure you'll find similar things.
Good luck & congrats!
A scrapbook or binder with memories and a few blank pages fir future events.
If they are moving to a new place.. my sister did this for me. I Rubbermaid bin with paper towels, ziploc bags, paper plates, kitchen utensils, bleach, all kinds of things you need but do not always think of.
I also got several sets of salt and pepper shakers for different hoildays. To decorate with, a cute idea that could be changed to towels, or a wreath, or other decorations.
Whatever you do do something that is up her ally. And that will mean something coming from you.
I totally agree, do they have those where you and/or she is? I've only ever heard of them being advertized in AZ.
