Online job applications

I get that they save on paper and are convenient for the employers, but wow! They are super annoying to use. You have to create a new username and password for every site. Does anyone else feel this way? I am opting to send it in the old fashioned way when I can.

Yes, they can be so annoying. Especially the really, really long ones. I once filled out one that took me like 30 minutes and at the end of it, I got a message saying the job I was applying to was no longer available and that I should continue to look at their site for future openings I wanted to apply to. They still had it listed on their "current job openings" though. I was so mad!
I also hate that the resume format looks terrible sometimes when you try to upload it.
I would not suggest sending your resume the old fashioned way. While the online application may be a bit annoying, it's the best way to get your resume/application in with a company.
Your information is automatically stored in a database. If the recruiter/hiring manager thinks that you might be good for another position, they can just ping you to another hiring manager.
Most larger companies use the same program. It follows you from application to hire and beyond (i.e. performance once you are hired, bonuses, etc.)
The username and password are for your protection, once the interviewing process begins, your PII will be entered and is protected by your password.
coming back late on this one but you have to enter your work history so that it populates the database - in most programs, your resume does not populate the database but ends up as an attachment to your file.
This exactly. So discouraging sometimes!
