Lauren

Hey, so I just finished Sloppy Firsts.  I gave it three stars.  I like it but I wasn't in love with it because I think my high school self was almost exactly like the main character.  Straight As, not that pretty, best friend moves away, etc.

So yeah, I liked it, but I didn't love it because who wants to read a book about themselves?   I can't decide if I'm going to continue on with the series.

Re: Lauren

  • HAHA yeah, I saw you finished it on your blog! Like I said, I read it in HS so I guess I liked it back then because I related more? Seeing you reading it brought back memories! I wouldn't bother reading the other books in the series if you didn't love the first. I remember liking the second one, but not the third. It was sooo long ago tho!

  • It brought back memories for me, a lot of cultural references that I remembered from back then that I don't think todays HSers would get.  Like the "I Love You" computer virus.

I might get sequels from the library if I ever stumble across them, but I don't think I'm going to make an effort.

  • Also I saw your post on the travel board.  I'd pick cruise one because you'd be away on your anniversary and also because the other two have Columbia as a stop and I personally don't care if I ever see Columbia.

  • I'm almost curious to re-read it now to see how much it reminds me of HS lol. Maybe when I get my Kindle {if amazon decides to SHIP IT} I will.

Thanks for the cruise advice! I think we're set on the first one as well. H wants to go to Belize, but I feel like it's a pretty common stop now so we'll hit it some other time. We also determined we'd like to go to Bonaire more than Colombia. I feel like it's more of a "rare" cruise stop and it looks nicer in pictures lol. I'd like to book but I think I'm going to wait. It's on HAL and we'll be sailing the line for the first time in August in Europe, so I'm sort of waiting to see how we like it. At the same time, I feel like I'd book based on itinerary anyway, regardless how we like the line. That and I'd feel kind of guilty booking our next trip before our current one even happens :/ ... I'm not sure why!

  • ::butting in:: One of my really good friend's husband is from Belize and they both say to not do a cruise to Belize. They said the port is really crappy and you don't get to see any of the good things that Belize has to offer, like the ruins, etc ::butting out::
