Savannah

Dh and I are going this weekend. We decided we wanted a mini road trip. We've never been. Any must see, eat and do recommendations?

Re: Savannah

  • Oh I love Savannah!  My absolute favorite place is Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House on Jones St.  Cash or check only, M-F lunch.  Get in line by 10:30.  Better than Paula Deen's, IMO.  It's family style and super yummy.

We also took one of the tours where you hop on and off the bus/tram/trolley.  There are lots of different ones, but I found out that they are all required to go to the same places, so the only difference you get for diff. prices is the mode of transportation.  We went with the cheap one on the green and yellow trolley.  It's a great way to see the city.

Take a day and drive to Tybee Island and eat at the Crab Shack.  You can also visit Fort Pulaski on the way over.

Oh, and we took a ghost tour with Six Sense.  The tour guide was pretty good.  DH and I were glad we did it. Have fun!

  • I like the ghost tours or ghost pub crawls even if they are a tad hokey. There are a lot of good places to eat as well:

    The Olde Pink House

    Vinne Van Go-Gos (Pizza)

    Huey's (for Beignets or Brunch)

    Kevin Barry's (drinks)

    Bubba's

    The Crab Shack

  • Def. try out Jazz'ed it's a great tapas bar as well as the Bohemian. :)
