I feel like I've used everything under the sun, and nothing works. I've tried Nature clean, Mr. Clean, Scrubbing Bubbles, Green Works, Vim, Cif, Lysol, etc etc! I was also using a fume mask when I cleaned because the fumes from some of the non-cream cleansers were choking. The fan in the bathroom stays on, but we have no window in there to open.
I was fed up with cleaners, but then I remembered Comet (the powdered cleanser). I remembered using it when I was a kid on just about everything, (especially stainless steel) but had completely forgotten about it. Not only is it cheap, it powers through soap scum like nothing else, and doesn't get in my lungs.
What do you use?
Re: Soap scum and Comet.
Yeah. Sometimes simpler is better for sure!
I do the green thing for the most part, but once in awhile I love me some Soft Scrub. Works good and no weird smells.
I REALLY like Method's Eucalyptus shower cleaner from Target. I spray it on the tub, clean the rest of the bathroom, then wipe everything down with a damp rag. It cleans through all the soap scum and mildew that collects near the shower curtain without any scrubbing at all.
I LOVE powdered Comet for my kitchen sink though!
I use this for my shower and it works great. It's a homemade cleaner and I love it! I use the peppermint Dr. Bronner's castile soap and like the additional disinfecting qualities that I get from the peppermint essential oil in it. But you could use any scent.
1 - 8 oz. jar
1 cup baking soda
? cup liquid castile soap
1 Tb. white vinegar
? tsp. essential oil (about 25 drops)
1 drop food coloring
How to make: In a jar or bowl, mix 1 cup baking soda with ? cup unscented liquid castile soap. Work out the clumps with a fork and add more if too thick. Add 1 tsp. white vinegar and stir. Use a spatula to spoon your mixture into the jar. Add the essential oil of choice if not using a scented castile soap; peppermint, lavender, tea tree, strawberry, anything!
